'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Extended Trailer Shows Agent Coulson's Return, Hints At Superhero Cameos
The funny thing about comic book characters is that they rarely stay dead for long.
Agent Phil Coulson, despite getting stabbed in the back in The Avengers and dying in the arms of Nick Fury, has returned to the world of the living and will play a huge role in the upcoming TV series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
At first it was believed the series would take place before the events of The Avengers, but it becomes clear that this is post-New York invasion when an interviewed agent describes himself as "Clearance Level 6" and explains that he knows Coulson was killed.

Joss Whedon: 'I'd Direct 'Star Wars' If I Wasn't Directing 'The Avengers' Sequel'
Joss Whedon would love to work on the next installment in the Star Wars series, but he has an enviable problem: He's already working on the sequel to The Avengers.
Whedon mused to CNN, "I'm as angry as you should be. When I heard [about 'Star Wars'] I was like, 'I wonder ... no, I really can't do that. Oh, I already have a job.' I wouldn't clear the 'Avengers.' I'm having so much fun with that sequel right now, just with the script, that I couldn't imagine not doing it."

Best Movies of 2012
2012 was a great year for superheroes, James Bond, a former President of the United States and Ben Affleck. What defines a great film? It's different for everyone, but first and foremost it must entertain. Many movies did just that over the past year.

The number-three grossing film of all time (behind James Cameron's "Titanic" and "Avatar"), starred Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo as the H...

The season kicked off big time with "The Avengers," which brought in a record $207.4 million during its first weekend. Performances by stars such as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson brought life to Iron Man,...

The villain the Thor sequel has finally been announced. Christopher Eccleston will play Malekith, the lord of the Dark Elves, in 2013's Thor: The Dark World.

'Captain America 2' Finds New Direction
You've got to hand it to Marvel: When it comes to selecting directors, they certainly think outside the box. Classic thespian Kenneth Branagh for "Thor?" "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon for "The Avengers?" Jon Favreau, who previously was best known as Vince Vaughn's wingman, for the film that started it all, "Iron Man?" Big gambles and big, big payoffs.
All of which is our way of saying that it shouldn't be a surprise that Deadline is reporting that Marvel has selected the Russo Brothers to helm "Captain America 2."
It shouldn't be, but it still is.

Whedonites Assemble For 'Joss Whedon: The Complete Companion'
Joss Whedon is finally receiving the widespread recognition he deserves as a writer, director, and producer. We have his hit 2012 flicks The Avengers and The Cabin in the Woods to thank for that. Before Whedon achieved mainstream success though, he already had a rabid cult following. His admirers endlessly analyze the television shows, comics, and films that he creates. Heck, my alma mater even has a class exclusively on his show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Leveraging Whedon’s devotees, Titan Books and the magazine Pop Matters have distilled fan commentary into a single book entitled Joss Whe...

'Battleship' Posts Disappointing Weekend, 'Avengers' Jumps To 4th Highest Gross Of All-Time
On Friday we forecasted that Battleship had no chance beating The Avengers over the weekend, but we had no idea the board game-turned-movie would debut so low.
Expected to make around $40 million its first three days, Battleship could only muster $25 million. A $209 million production budget and sizeable market spend means the film has some work to do if it doesn't want to be a total loss.
Meanwhile, Avengers continues to dominate the box office here in the United States and across the world. Domestically the film took in another $55 million, just over estimates. That puts its US total at...

'Battleship' Can't Sink 'Avengers' From Top Spot This Weekend
Don't expect Battleship to knock The Avengers off the top spot this weekend. While the movie based on the board game ought to rake in over $30 million the next three days, it might have to double that amount to top Marvel's greatest heroes.
Going by the rule that weekend grosses lessen by 50% every week, The Avengers is set to make another $50 million-plus. That would put the film at $450 million domestic. The superhero film has already broken into the top ten list for worldwide grosses, beating Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and The Dark Knight.

Box Office: 'The Avengers' Should Break 'Avatar' Record, 'Dark Shadows' Set For Distant Second
The Avengers should have little trouble breaking Avatar's second weekend record, thanks in part to great reviews and word of mouth. Avatar took in just above $75 million its second weekend and pundits suggest The Avengers may break the $100 million mark.
