6/16/2011 1:00pm EDT
Natalie Portman
On Tuesday, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in a rare moment of clarity, re-opened the possibility of a limited field of nominees for Best Picture each year. In other words, after two years of nonsense, a Best Picture nomination actually matters again.

The new system is very simple. It works similarly to the way Baseball Players are elected to the Hall of Fame. Academy member vote in much the same way as they have the last two years – ranking their nominees from 1 through 10.

Except now, instead of a convoluted vote counting process that leads to scavenging for a tenth no...

1/10/2011 8:27am EST
James Cameron
James Cameron has criticized Hollywood's love affair with franchises, citing the upcoming Battleship movie as an example of the "ridiculous" lengths producers will go to score a box office hit.

Review: 'Tron: Legacy' Game On!

12/15/2010 1:10pm EST
In the 28 years it took for “Tron: Legacy” to reach your local Theater or IMAX screen, Communism fell, Al Gore invented the Internet and discovered global warming, and the idea of a movie based around video games became less of a “WTF”. The original “Tron”, for me, was always elusive. Every now and then I'd catch a half hour here, twenty minutes there, always on late night TV, but never had I seen the entire film.

This did not stop me from engorging myself on the Sequel. This movie is the visuals, and they deliver. They deliver in so many ways it's impossible to describe. For all the award...

However, Rodriguez insists she'd sooner take on repetitive roles than be cast solely for her sex appeal.
