Betty White in The Golden Girls
TV veteran Betty White has a big reason to celebrate on Tuesday - America's favorite Golden Girl turns 90.

Known for her comedic chops and charming wit on hit shows like "Hot in Cleveland," "The Golden Girls" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," White boasts a successful career, which now spans seven decades.

And she doesn't appear to be slowing down with age - on Monday night bosses at network NBC paid tribute to the legend's career by airing a star-studded TV special, which featured Hugh Jackman and Carol Burnett, among others, paying tribute to the birthday girl - and she is just about to ...

February 3rd, 2009 3:32pm EST
Kate Winslet
With the biggest gambling day of the year, Super Bowl Sunday, having just passed, it's time to turn our attention to best gambling day to beat Vegas: Oscar night.

Yes, Oscar night. You can bet on the Oscars on various websites, at various casinos, and probably in many illegal outlets as well (though we discourage this practice). What does each betting spot have in common? They probably have no idea how to handicap the race, giving the savvy better tremendous odds of winning big.

Whether it's Frances McDormand getting 6-1 for "Fargo", Helen Hunt 8-1 for "As Good As It Gets" or M...

The Underrated Greg Kinnear

Greg Kinnear
He's that guy in decently funded movies you can't remember. The writing is always good to great, and you're not angry for watching one of his movies instead of The Shawshank Redemption (seriously, when is that NOT on TV?) or asking for your money back outside the theater. His work may not be critically underrated, but he's not a rock solid A-lister just either. With actors like William H. Macy and Tom Hanks out there, getting recognition for expanding on his most likeable qualities might be difficult. He may continue to slip by under the fickle radar of celebrity for a little longer.

Daniel Day-Lewis
There are many talented people in Hollywood who have won a coveted Oscar, and there are so many talented winners that it's difficult to just name a few.

Daniel Day-Lewis is known as one of the most selective actors in the industry; he's starred in only four movies in the last 10 years. Whenever Day-Lewis has a movie being released, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences stands up and takes notice. He's won two Academy Awards for Best Actor: His first was in 1989 for his role as Christy Brown in "My Left Foot" and the other in 2007 for his work as Daniel Plainview in "There Wil...

Point/Counterpoint: Should There Be A Separate Comedic Category For The Academy Awards?

February 13th, 2008 1:00pm EST
Think of your favorite comedies. Whether it be Monty Python And The Holy Grail, Caddyshack, Animal House, or recent films like Dumb and Dumber, Anchorman, The 40-Year-Old Virgin or Borat, they all have something in common. Each film boasts incredible performances, and the Academy has not recognized any of them. How is this fair? Bill Murray, Jim Carrey, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller - all the successful comic actors should get their due.

It is equally hard to create a great comedy as it is to make a gripping drama. The Golden Globes have a separate category for comedic perfo...
