September 8th, 2014 5:12am EDT
Any Given Sunday
In the hit 1999 film "Any Given Sunday," the biggest problem for the NFL's Miami Sharks is not playing the other teams - it's finding peace within its own ranks.

Aging star quarterback Jack "Cap" Rooney (Dennis Quaid) and battle-weary coach Tony D'Amato (Al Pacino) butt heads with young players and new management who are more concerned with generating a lot of money and the star-making potential of television than the ethics of the game or the health of its players.

After Rooney is knocked out of the game over an injury, he is replaced by an unknown third stringer who steals the spotlight...

10 Football Films To Get You Ready For Opening Weekend

September 6th, 2012 2:07pm EDT
Remember The Titans
Football's opening game may have been Wednesday night, when the Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Giants, but the real opening event will be this weekend when the NFL debuts with a full slate of Sunday games. If you aren't excited yet, check your pulse - and watch these 10 Football Films.

The Strange And Surprising Career Of Cameron Diaz

June 23rd, 2011 1:00pm EDT
Cameron Diaz
Cameron Diaz is anything but a predictable actor. This Friday, “Bad Teacher” opens and will showcase Diaz’s R-rated comedy skills opposite Justin Timerlake and Jason Segel, an alumnus of the Judd Apatow school of raunchy humor. Directed by Jake Kasdan (“Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story”), Diaz stars as the world’s worst teacher who would rather get high in her car than teach her kids anything. While most moviegoers see her as just a pretty face who pops up in mediocre films, Diaz has had an incredibly unique and varied career in Hollywood over the last two decades.

Her breakthrough role ca...

September 8th, 2009 12:00pm EDT
Knute Rockne Win One for the Gipper
With football season right around the corner, it's time to take a look back at the way Hollywood has immortalized coaches over the years. While most football movies focus on the players, a few have turned their eyes to the men (and women) calling the shots, giving us several good and bad portrayals of coaches.

Tony D'Amato, "Any Given Sunday"

Oliver Stone's let's-throw-it-all-together-and-see-what-sticks football opus has its faults, but one of them is not Al Pacino's performance as the coach of the beleaguered Miami Sharks. Stone coaxes one of Pacino's last great efforts by allowing...
