Ron Howard
We're still waiting for the "Arrested Development" movie. They finally signed all the cast members, and series creator Mitch Hurtwitz is writing the script. Only producer Ron Howard has any direct information.

"Mitch Hurwitz is working on a story, working on a script and he would direct it," Howard said. "Everyone's hoping but we're not going to go through with anything that we don't think lives up to the standard."

Even Hurwitz is keeping his secrets, but just the tidbits he's shared with Howard are promising. "No clues as to who's in it, no clues as to what the storyline is but every ti...

25 Worst Movies Of 2009

November 27th, 2009 9:46am EST
The Body
Wow, there were some bad movies, like really bad, in 2009 but since we are optimists we like to think the good outnumbered the bad. We already discussed the good movies, and now we will feature the bad and ugly of 2009. Sometimes bad movies are entertaining enough to keep our attention for a few hours but sometimes the movies are so bad we induce vomiting to make us feel better.

Couples Retreat (25) had the cast and the budget to be a funny flick and it came out in the fourth quarter of 2009 when the best movies already came out. This movie was bad, not funny, and it might have marked th...

The Vatican Praises Latest 'Harry Potter' Film

July 14th, 2009 9:35am EDT
Vatican Praises Harry Potter
The Roman Catholic Church has praised the latest installment of the Harry Potter franchise - for highlighting the "sacrifice" needed for good to triumph over evil.

The Vatican's own newspaper L'Osservatore Romano lauded Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, insisting it is the best adaptation of J.K. Rowling's hugely successful books so far. And it even insisted the teenage love scenes - with the main characters all kissing in the film - achieved the "correct balance" in creating a credible story for the audience.

The Vatican added that the movie was positive as it showed that to ...

'Angels & Demons' Is A Complete Mess

May 18th, 2009 2:41pm EDT
Angels and Demons
Dan Brown's novels have a single extraordinary trick to them that play out in both film adaptations, "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons." Essentially, the movies (and books, respectively) are tours of Europe's most famous landmarks given at break-neck speed and cloaked in a cheesy dinner murder mystery that gives them an edge most museum or Vatican tours don't have. In that context, "Angels & Demons" is a success. In all others however, it fails miserably.

Langdon is a symbolism professor called upon by the Vatican to unravel the symbols that point to the location of four card...

McGregor plays a priest alongside Tom Hanks in the film, a prequel to controversial 2006 drama The Da Vinci Code.

The feature was expected to upset Catholic scholars in the Vatican because it's storyline deals with a brotherhood within the Catholic Church whose members commit murder to 'protect' Jesus Christ's lineage.

Reviewers at the Vatican's newspaper L'Osservatore Romano, who attended a specia...

Review: 'Angels & Demons' Is Fun And A Serviceable Summer Thriller

May 14th, 2009 9:37am EDT
Angels and Demons
Remember the movie The Man With One Red Shoe? Tom Hanks played an unsuspecting concert violinist who is mistaken for a spy. It was not particularly well made and it was not particularly funny but, hey, it had Dabney Coleman! What it also had was Hanks in the midst of his kinda-silly-movie era -- which also included Volunteers, Dragnet and The Money Pit -- movies that meant nothing, but at least they sort of realized that. What does this have to do with Hanks' new film, Angels and Demons? Not a lot. Other than I kind of miss silly-movie-era Hanks, at times, and Angels and Demons didn't quite...

Hindu scholars have joined Catholics around the world by condemning the filmmakers of The Da Vinci Code prequel Angels and Demons for "playing with the sentiments of the faithful for mercantile greed."

Universal Society of Hinduism officials in America have voted to censure the film, starring Tom Hanks, because they claim director Ron Howard and his producers have failed to acknowledge how their film could damage Catholic faith. The film explores the concept that a secret brotherhood slays and murders those who get too close to revealing the truth behind the myth that Jesus Christ fat...
