Achorman 2: The Legend Continues will get a rerelease in theaters for a single week, with its runtime extended 20 minutes and its theatrical rating changed to "R."

Director Adam McKay told the New York Times, "We started talking and realized, we can replace every single joke in the movie with another joke." Instead of saving the material for the upcoming home release, Paramount executives actually approached McKay and insisted on a second theatrical run.

Peter Jackson's second film in his "Hobbit" trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, held off competition from Will Ferrell's Anchorman sequel, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, to top the weekend box office.

"Smaug" broke the $100 million mark in its second week of release, adding another $31.4 million to its gross, for a total of $127.5 million.

"Anchorman 2" upped its five-day total to $40 million, coming in second with $26 million in weekend receipts.

Producers of the Anchorman sequel have offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of thieves who stole $300,000 -worth of computers and equipment from the film's Georgia production base over Christmas.

The Atlanta warehouse used to store the gear was raided on December 27th and local police have launched an investigation.

It has emerged the thieves didn't target the site specifically but broke in as part of a carefully planned string of burglaries in the area.

Thieves stole around $300,000 in copper wiring and computers from an Atlanta building that was renovated to be a set for the upcoming film Anchorman 2.

The thieves stripped the building of the costly wire and four Apple computers. A Paramount official heard an alarm when the thieves broke into the building, but he turned it off when he believed it to be rodents tripping it.

The area has been dealing with a rash of break-ins, and the building's owner hopes it doesn't affect Atlanta's recent attempts to become a go-to location for Hollywood filming.
