Academy Announces New Rule Changes For Oscars In Two Categories

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced a change to the voting process beginning with the 2014 Oscars during a meeting of over 1000 members on Saturday. The change will now allow all members to vote in the documentary shorts and foreign language film categories.

The previous rule required members to see all of the nominated foreign films and documentary shorts in theaters to be eligible to vote in the final balloting round, and now members will have the option to view them in theaters or via DVD screeners.

Despite a snub for Ben Affleck in the Best Directing category, Argo landed the Oscar for Best Picture at the 85th Oscars, held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California.

Jennifer Lawrence picked up the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook; while Daniel Day-Lewis landed Best Actor accolades for his role in Lincoln -- the only award each film received.

This year's Oscars promises to be full of drama and surprises as there are only a handful of sure locks to win awards.

French drama "Amour" received a huge pre-Oscars boost on Friday after sweeping the board at the Cesar Awards in Paris, France, taking home five of the night's major prizes.

The film centers on an octogenarian couple who find their love put to the ultimate test when one of them suffers a stroke and the other must assume the role of the caretaker

"Amour" picked up the coveted Best Picture prize, beating "Camille Rewinds," "Rust and Bone," "Holy Motors," "The First Name," "In the House" and "Farewell, My Queen."

This year's Oscars host, Seth MacFarlane, was accompanied by actress Emma Stone Thursday morning to announce the nominees for the 85th annual Academy Awards.

Over 400 media representatives from around the world attended the 5:30am (Pacific) press conference to find out which films and stars are this year's cream of the crop.
