'Deal' is No Big Deal as Career of Burt Reynolds Fades Away

4/24/2008 9:46am EDT
Deal
(Hollywoodchicago.com)– Poor Burt Reynolds. As the No. 1 box-office star from 1978 to 1982, he revived his film career in 1997 with “Boogie Nights”. Since then, he has had the long, slow decline of “B” movies and bad remakes. Reynolds even tainted his own legacy by participating in the horrible 2005 redo of “The Longest Yard.”

Will he ever get the one last script that will return him to glory? The film “Deal” isn’t it. Reynolds plays Tommy Vinton: a mysterious stranger who begins observing young poker hotshot Alex (Bret Harrison).

Alex is from the Internet age and won an online co...

Sixteen Candles
Before Lindsay Lohan became a Mean Girl and Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron became High School Musical sweethearts, Winona Ryder was a Heather and Molly Ringwald and Andrew McCarthy were our favorite couple from two different worlds.

What makes a great high school movie is the legacy they've made on generations of teenagers, despite the decade they grew up in. These are the movies with the unforgettable characters, witty lines, and the feeling of being forever young. The...

There May Be Cracks, But The Comedy Glass Ceiling Still Exists For Women

3/14/2008 3:00pm EDT
Parker Posey
In this town (Los Angeles) and this industry (entertainment), there are a handful of strong, intelligent, funny women who - once they finally broke onto the radar - have worked consistently in equally strong, intelligent, funny roles.

After reading this month's "Who Says Women Aren't Funny" issue of Vanity Fair, it is impossible not to notice just how many beyond the current "it" girls of comedy were left off that list (which included funnygirls such as Tina Fey, Sarah Silverman and Amy Poehler). This is an attempt to rectify that and garner them the recognition they so rightly dese...

'Best Of The Little Guy' Sports Movies

2/11/2008 5:20pm EST
Little Giants
One week later, I'm still walking in circles around my house: pinching myself, reading newspaper articles, Tivoing ESPN, and gazing up at pictures of David Tyree. I just can't believe it. The New York Giants, my team, my sloppy, win ugly, stab me in the heart again and again until I'm either screaming or crying or laughing like a crazy person Giants have done the impossible-- they defeated the big, bad, *perfect* New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

It's like something out of a movie. Inspirational. Against all odds. Team victory. In my mind, it's already the greatest sports movi...

Artists To Check Out This Month: Thomas Ian Nicholas, Magnetic Fields & Kate Nash

Thomas Ian Nicholas
The actor-musician hybrid is a tricky thing. It's a road peppered with the long-decomposed carcasses of Russell Crowe, Eddie Murphy and heaven forbid, David Hasselhoff.

Thomas Ian Nicholas

"Without Warning"

As a fresh-faced mop top in 1992's Rookie of the Year, Thomas Ian Nicholas was destined for a career of Tony Danza-dom. Known to the vast majority of Americans as Kevin from the American Pie flicks, who knew that Nicholas had visions of hypersensitive John Mayer-warbling beating around in his thickly trussed head?

On his latest release, "Without Warning," Nicholas a...

Lindsay Lohan held a beach party for autistic children - to make up for almost ruining their day trip. Volunteers for Smashbox Cares - a charity that teaches autistic youngsters how to surf - were left fuming after arriving at Carbon Beach, Malibu, on Monday and discovering their drop-off point was blocked by the Mean Girls actress' car.

Lohan had apparently parked it there ahead of her lavish 20th birthday party at the Polaroid Beach House the night before, but misplaced her keys and couldn't move the vehicle.

However, in an attempt to make amends the big-hearted bikini-clad actr...

Tara Reid curbed her wild partying at her 30th birthday - to please her mom.

The sexy actress, famed for her drunken antics, was on her best behaviour at the lavish bash, held at top Los Angeles nightclub Mood, because her mother was watching her every move.
