Best And Worst Movies About The Occult

November 18th, 2010 5:53pm EST
Care for some voodoo or good old exorcism? I've got the list of the best and worst flicks for a good scary night in.

“Don't bury me, I am not dead!”

Imagine this... you're paralyzed but conscious, however unable to move or in any other way able to communicate with others. You can't even signal that you are alive. Those around you pronounce you dead. Doesn't sound like a happy ending, now does it?

Bill Pullmann plays an anthropologist who travels to Haiti upon hearing rumors that a powerful drug is being used by voodoo practitioner...

Video Game Movies: The Good, The Bad, And The Boll

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
With Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li arriving in theaters February 27, it’s time to take a look back at the video game movies that brought us to this point.

While video games run the gamut of quality - from very good to very bad - video game movies have typically been on the “poor” side of the critical spectrum. Games are written with interactivity in mind, and thus their storylines don’t always mesh with the film medium.

Still, there are a few titles one could argue are at least passable – even if fans of the video games they are based on do not find them loyal to the ori...

April 7th, 2008 6:30pm EDT
Uwe Boll, director of such box-office losers as In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale and Alone In The Dark, says that he'll stop making movies if an online petition asking him to reaches a million signatures.

The German director recently spoke with FEARnet, saying that the mere 18,000 names currently on the list are "not enough to convince me."

When asked how many names it would take for him to consider giving up his art, Boll said that a million would be the "new goal."

Since the BloodRayne director's chat with the horror site the number of names on the petition h...

Video Games Do Not Make Good Movies

January 14th, 2008 11:18am EST
Street Fighter
There are some things in Hollywood that just do not work: Lindsay Lohan and sobriety, most marriages, Tim Allen tackling roles not involving Christmas, and successfully adapting a video game into a movie. Why is this so hard?

The powers that be can take a 700-page book and trim it down to a two-hour story. Either they are picking really bad video games to adapt or the people involved just suck. There has yet to be a quality adaptation. So why do studios keep insisting on producing them? They even screwed up Doom, a story that involves Marines fighting aliens. How is that even possible...

Biggest Stinkers of '05? 'Alone In The Dark,' Tara Reid

March 3rd, 2006 10:04am EST
Tara Reid
Low budget horror film Alone In The Dark left a nasty smell in cinemas last year - it has been dishonored at the annual Stinkers Bad Movie Awards. The Los Angeles-based Bad Cinema Society has announced its anti-Oscars, and 'Alone In The Dark' has been named the Worst Film Of The Year.

The horror movie also claimed the Worst Director (Uwe Boll), Worst Actress (Tara Reid) and Worst Special Effects 'prizes', but it didn't pick up the most dishonors.

That claim to shame went to The Mask sequel Son Of The Mask, which claimed five Stinkers, including a Worst Actor award for Jamie Kenne...
