Tyler Perry has issued a groveling public appeal to his fans to see his new movie Alex Cross after the film was hit with a slew of bad reviews.

The actor/director is best known for his onscreen drag creation Mabel 'Madea' Simmons, but he has swapped comedy for drama in the dark new thriller, based on the character of James Patterson's best-selling crime novels.

The screening of “Flight” was particularly exciting because I got to meet director Robert Zemeckis beforehand. The film "Alex Cross" follows a young homicide detective/psychologist (Tyler Perry) as he meets his match in a serial killer (Matthew Fox). The movie is adapted from the worldwide best-selling novels by James Patterson, and Fox trained vigorously to to achieve the scarily ripped body of his bad guy character Michael "The Butcher" Sullivan.
