Why You Should Go See 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'

June 24th, 2012 3:55pm EDT
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
I should preface this by saying if fantasy/action/horror movies involving vampires are really not your thing, nothing I write after this paragraph will make you want to see “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”. It is 105 minutes of fantasy, action, horror and vampire, no way to get around that. But if you can tolerate those types of films or even, dare I suggest it, LIKE those kind of films yet you’re still balking at plunking down your cash for director Timur Bekmambetov’s adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel, hopefully I can convince you that it’s worth your money and time.

Usually, if...

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
A new exclusive video from the folks over at Funny Or Die.com pokes fun at Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (which arrives in theaters today), setting the tone for several 'presidential' sequels.

Casper Van Dien, Jake Busey, and Mark Dacascos star in the clip, which features numerous former U.S. Presidents (and Al Gore) in roles similar to Honest Abe's vampire slayer.

"James K. Polk - Frankenstein Wrestler," "FDR: Dragon Whisperer," and "Jimmy Carter - New Orleans Saints Punter."

Review: 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' Is Exciting, Clever And Total Fun

June 22nd, 2012 1:03pm EDT
'AbrahamLincoln Vampire Hunter
Most of the time when you see a film after you've read the book you feel let down. The movie usually pales in comparison to the novel. I am happy to report this isn't the case with 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'

The film, shot in 3D and directed by Timur Bekmambetov (I've never heard of him either) is entertaining, exciting, clever and total fun.

We meet Abe Lincoln as a boy... a happy carefree boy, until one dark and stormy night his mother is bitten by a vampire and dies. Years later, the same fate takes his dad.

Lincoln is pissed. All he wants is vengeance. Translation: To kill ...

Alex Lombard Has A Stake In 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'

Alex Lombard
Those of you going to see Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter today will get to meet Alex Lombard, who plays Gabrielle, the girlfriend to Henry Sturges, played by Dominic Cooper. I recently caught up with Alex to ask her about the movie and her up-and-coming career.

"Gabrielle is definitely a free spirit," she said. "She provides some lighthearted comic relief and definitely brings a bit of sexiness for the movie." In fact, Gabrielle's first appearance might raise a few eyebrows, as she's in the middle of an intimate moment with her significant other when we first meet her.

Although she has...

Five Fun Facts About 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' Star Benjamin Walker

June 21st, 2012 12:10pm EDT
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' star Benjamin Walker
On Friday, June 22nd, Benjamin Walker will do what some thought couldn’t be done by making Abraham Lincoln sexy in Timur Bekmambetov’s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”. In preparation for the adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s book about the un-dead, we thought we’d dig up five fun facts about the actor about to take the summer by storm.

1) Abraham Lincoln isn’t the first American President he’s portrayed. Walker made his name as the lead in the rock musical “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson” playing, you guessed it, seventh President Andrew Jackson.

2) He’s a Juilliard graduate who has at...

Trailer Talk: 'Brave,' 'Seeking a Friend for the End of the World,' & 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'

Brave Poster
Last week I was pretty busy watching movies. I saw Adam Shankman’s musical “Rock of Ages,” Colin Trevorrow’s dramedy “Safety Not Guaranteed,” and Ridley Scott’s sci-fi/horror flick “Prometheus.” I largely thought Tom Cruise’s robotic performance ruined “Rock of Ages,” and “Safety Not Guaranteed” was enjoyable, but only when it stuck to the time travel elements in its story. For more of my thoughts on those two films, check out my reviews.

Although I didn’t love Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus,” I didn’t exactly hate it either. The special effects are superb and there are a few truly horrifying ...

Most Anticipated Movies of 2012
If you’re family is like mine, you probably got one for Christmas. I have an aunt who has given on to me every year since I was seven. Each time I open the wrapping paper and feign surprise, as if my present could have been anything else. The first few times she gave me this turd of a gift, I hung it dutifully on my wall for the entire year. Each time I looked at it, I would wonder how Chocolate Labradors or Monster Trucks define me as a person (News Flash: They don’t). Now, as soon as she leaves the room, I throw my gift right in the trash without even a modicum of guilt. Still don’t know ...
