NASA Scientists Slam '2012'

January 3rd, 2011 10:51am EST
2012
NASA scientists have named John Cusack's blockbuster 2012 as the most "absurd" sci-fi film of all time.

Experts at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) put together a list of the least plausible science fiction movies ever made, and the big budget 2009 picture came top. The film, which depicted Earth besieged by natural disasters, featured ahead of two more 'end-of-the-world' movies - 2003's The Core and 1998's Armageddon.

Donald Yeomans, head of NASA's Near-Earth Asteroid Rendezvous mission, says of 2012, "It's absurd. The film-makers took advantage of public worrie...

Amanda Peet
On March 25,2010, Los Angeles based Signature Magazine will be featuring a pregnant Amanda Peet on its Spring Fashion Cover.

As the Issue's title suggests, fashion takes the center stage alongside some of L.A.'s biggest hot spots and notables and Peet reinforces that L.A. is the place for both, while reminiscing about the joys of motherhood.

She has played in such memorable film as "Something's Gotta Give" alongside Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, "Syriana" with George Clooney & Matt Damon, and "2012" with John Cusack.

This year, Peet will have two more movies on the big screen: "Gul...

Where the Wild Things Are - Buy it

Spike Jonze's masterpiece feels like a Jonze movie (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) in that it blurs the line between reality and fiction. The beasts - created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop - have to be seen to be believed. Max Records stars as the rebellious young Max, backed by a phenomenal supporting cast including the voice talents of James Gandolfini and Catherine O'Hara. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O supplies one of the best soundtracks of the year, freshly snubbed...

A Decade Of Doom, Gloom, & Apocalypse Is Ahead For Us!

January 17th, 2010 10:00am EST
2012
Like it or not, we are living in the future--even if it isn't the one we thought it would be. Leading up to the turn of the century, most science fiction stories taking place the first decade of the 21st century

depicted it as an era of elegant space travel and scientific whimsy. Images imbibed in us by the potential wonders that science and invention could offer. However, the stories that take place in the coming decade are a different matter altogether. If the 00's were to be a time of discovery, the next decade, it seems, is when we go and blow it all up (you maniacs!). If you judge w...

Now that it's the year 2010, a decade into the new era, the next big year people suspect the world could end is 2012, in accordance with the termination of the Mayan calendar. In 2009, people flocked to see "2012" a Roland Emmerich film fictionally portraying the same prophesied destruction the year is s...

Celebrating The Comedic John Cusack: A Spotlight On His Funniest Roles

November 13th, 2009 10:54am EST
John Cusack
Even though he doesn't make Academy Award winning material, John Cusack certainly knows how to make entertaining films. Since the early 80s, Cusack's awkward boyish charm has been attracting audiences to his comedies.

While some of his movies over the years have been outlandish and goofy from a plot perspective, Cusack's deadpan sense of humor tends to keep them grounded in a way a lot of viewers can relate to.

Cusack's latest role in Roland Emmerich's "2012" veers away from his traditional light hearted fare toward something heavier. Judging from the previews, it looks like a thri...

Johann Urb Talks '2012,' 'Eastwick,' And What It Was Like Playing A Gay 'Porn Star'

November 9th, 2009 10:00am EST
Johann Urb
We chatted with Johann Urb, star of "Eastwick" and "2012," and found his view on life fascinating. Originally from Estonia, we discussed his roots and interests, his movie and TV work, but somehow we often went off on a tangent that we think you will enjoy as much as we did.

I watched "Eastwick" so I could get a glimpse of you before the interview. You were such a Clark Kent.

Oh, thank you! I get a lot of that. When we were shooting the pilot, Lindsay Price's mom came to visit and she goes, "You look like Superman blond." So that's my nickname. I think it's kind of funny.

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - '2012,' 'Pirate Radio' & More

November 9th, 2009 9:52am EST
2012
At some point this week I hope to catch the wacky comedy "The Men Who Stare at Goats." While I have read some bad reviews of the film, I believe my tendency to disagree with the mainstream, could be a wild card for my own appraisal of the movie.

I'm having difficulty believing the collection of George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges could contribute to a horrific film considering I how much appreciate their abilities on screen.

Roland Emmerich destroys the world yet another time this week with his apocalyptic tale "2012." The quirky animation of Wes Anders...
