Onward, Soldiers new single "Telling Nobody", was just released. The Wilmington based band's new full-length and second album Monsters is out 2/21 via Winoca Records. The band's sound could be compared to Dr. Dog, The Morning Benders, Love Language, The Kinks and The Beatles. Really strong songwriting!

Onward, Soldiers is the product of fortunate coincidence. The group began when lead singer/songwriter and Pittsburgh native Sean Thomas Gerard relocated to Wilmington, NC in 2007, haphazardly landing his self-recorded demo in the hands of drummer, and co-founder of Winoca Records, Kevin Rhodes. From here, Kevin and Sean would team up with several local musicians to construct and record Onward, Soldiers’ first record, Ghost In This Town released in 2009.

Permanently adding guitarist Lincoln Morris and bassist Jarett Dorman, the four-piece began pushing their record, captivating audiences up and down the east coast. As interest began to build in 2011, they landed showcases in New York City's CMJ Music Festival, Raleigh's Hopscotch Music Festival and Asheville's Bele Chere. Onward, Soldiers have played with Rosebuds, Love Language, Johnny Winter, among others.

In 2010, Ghost in This Town's track, “Stick to Your Guns” was featured in an episode of One Tree Hill as well as an on-air performance by singer, Sean Thomas Gerard. One Tree Hill actress, Sophia Bush, named and tweeted Onward, Soldiers as one of her favorite bands and featured the song “Let the Time Roll By” on Gasoline Rainbows, a compilation CD to aid communities impacted by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The band was also featured on Jim Lauderdale’s Nashville's Music City Roots show and will be seen in February, 2012 on PBS's Sun Sessions, filmed at Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee.

The new album, Monsters, is a more refined version of the same raw yet melodic spirit, and delivers the unexpected twists and turns of cleverly-crafted musicianship played with devilish style and endearing lyricism. In the first track, “Telling Nobody,” you can instantly hear how the band has grown, thinking past the parameters of the 4-piece-rock-band sound that they had on the previous record.
