On their major-label debut album "Stages", Vedera have at last been able to capture the magic that has made them such a hot live property over the past few years. The Kansas City, Missouri-based quartet, fronted by Kristen May, have toured incessantly since releasing their first EP in 2004, honing their sound and building their considerable fanbase the grassroots way - one fan at a time. "We've spent more time playing live than we probably ever will be able to spend in a studio," guitarist Brian Little (and May's husband) says, "and we think that's great. Feeding off a live audience has really shaped what we do and we wanted Stages to reflect that."
The album's arrival is amplified by news that Vedera will head out on the road this fall to open for singer/songwriter Mat Kearney. The tour kicks off on October 16th in Atlanta, GA and will cover seventeen cities throughout both the southeast and Mideast wrapping on November 10th in Los Angeles, CA.
Vedera - a rock-based quartet who hail from Kansas City, MO are comprised of Kristen May (vocals, guitars, keyboard), Brian Little (guitars), Jason Douglas (bass), and Drew Little (drums). The band, fronted by May and her soaring vocals have toured incessantly since releasing their first EP in 2004, honing their sound and building their considerable fanbase the grassroots way - one fan at a time. Vedera have toured with the likes of The Wallflowers, Jason Mraz and most recently, The Fray. "We've spent more time playing live than we probably ever will be able to spend in a studio," guitarist Brian Little (and May's husband) says, "and we think that's great. Feeding off a live audience has really shaped what we do and we wanted 'Stages' to reflect that."
"Stages" is a stunning collection of dreamy pop/rock melodies which address such themes as loss, devotion, betrayal and love. Lead singer Kristen May describes Stages as "our blood, sweat, and tears over the past five years as a band on the road. It's about our relationships to one another and the changes we've gone through." Stages was recorded in Bloomington, IN with Epic Records A&R executive Mike Flynn, who co-produced the Fray's double-platinum album "How to Save A Life" and Augustana's 2008 album "Can't Love, Can't Hurt".
The video for the band's first single, "Satisfy" which was directed by James Frost (Coldplay, Radiohead) and recently shot in Los Angeles premiered on AOL's "About To Pop" feature September 21st.
Vedera's debut LP was released digitally on October 6th and they performed on the MTV show "The Hills" that same night!
