Tommy PageTime Release Date 1994 Label Time has not dissuaded Tommy Page's use of gushing lyrics and his sentimental outlook on love. What it has done is provide him with a more intricate sense of style and maturity. He glides through this album as though he were the male equivalent to Madonna (with a voice sometimes eerily similar to hers). Whereas his previous albums sprung directly from the land of Teen Bop magazine, Time makes a candid crossover into adult contemporary and R&B dance numbers. He gets downright funky on the club trance-inspired &"Gonna Turn It Out" and other dance tracks, but it is on the darkly melodic ballad, &"Places in My Heart," and the dreamy &"Why" that he really shines. Acting as writer and producer on nearly every song here, Page shows a newfound confidence that allowed him to explore different parts of the musical arena. There is nothing drastically different to turn away fans, but enough to make those skeptical or unfamiliar with his work take notice. Peter Fawthrop, Rovi |
