Born: February 21, 1923
Died: April 16, 1996

As a teenager, redheaded Lucille Bremer danced with the Philadelphia Opera Company, then worked as a Radio City Music Hall Rockette in New York. She was still in the chorus when MGM producer Arthur Freed hired her for films. Grooming her for stardom, Freed awarded Bremer a supporting role in Meet Me in St. Louis, then twice teamed her with Fred Astaire in Yolanda and the Thief (1944) and Ziegfeld_Follies (1945). An undeniably talented dancer, Bremer's somewhat aloof screen personality precluded big-time stardom; by 1948, she was out of films altogether. After her Hollywood career folded, Lucille Bremer married a Mexican millionaire, and for several years operated a successful children's clothing shop. Hal Erickson, Rovi
