Hong Kong actress Anita Mui is often referred to as the "Madonna of Hong Kong" because of her huge success as a pop singer, as well as her sexy image. She has acted in a wide range of genres, from the gangster thrillers, to kung fu films. She is best known to American audiences for her role in the Jackie_Chan action movie, Rumble in the Bronx (1995), which was released theatrically in the U.S. Her role in that film was a comedic turn as an unglamorous grocery-store manager; her performance as a commanding, intelligent Hong Kong cop in My Father is a Hero (1995) is perhaps a better showcase for her talent.
