Who Will Be A 'Dancing With The Stars' All-Star?

May 16th, 2012 2:07pm EDT
Mario Lopez
We knew back in April, thanks to a loose-lipped Mario Lopez, that ABC would be airing an all-star version of their dancing competition Dancing with the Stars. Finally, the network has officially announced the alternate version of the show, which lets us wonder - who will be on it?

Lopez, obviously, is in unless ABC is sour that he let loose he was asked to be on it before the network announced the show. TV Guide reported Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown, Sabrina Bryan, Gilles Marini and Kyle Massey are in.

The other night, Tom Bergeron said past winners would compete as well. That means Kelly ...

'Dancing With The Stars' Finale Crowns Hines Ward MVP Of The Ballroom

May 25th, 2011 8:09am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
Us audience members were officially cut off Tuesday morning. No more voting for "Dancing With The Stars." But the judges still had another set of scores to give on Tuesday’s finale, and we got three hours of show to sit through. Three hours. They had to make up for Monday’s show only being an hour long, I guess.

Luckily the first hour was a repeat, so I don’t have to write five million extra words for a third of the show. Then the opening sequence and voice over for the real show kicked in, and were especially dramatic. That is saying a lot when talking about this show. I a...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Ten: Stars Pull Out All The Stops For The Finals

May 24th, 2011 9:36am EDT
DWTS The Finals
Two more dances for our stars, and five more votes for us. Oh, who are we kidding, five? You know everyone votes with multiple email addresses and phone numbers to get in more votes. Regardless, two more dances and as many votes as you wish to sneak in (if you don’t have a life, like me), and the season is over. Tuesday we crown a winner, then go back to our regular lives where girls in barely-there sequins are not a weekly sight to see, and we have to figure out what to do with the gaping four hour chunk of the week that we suddenly have back. It’s bittersweet.

As usual, the...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Nine Results: Ralph Macchio, The Karate Kid Is Struck Down

May 18th, 2011 9:17am EDT
Ralph Macchio Eliminated on DWTS
One more week and we’ll be calling ‘Dancing With The Stars’ season 12 over, and I haven’t ever seen a season like this. Oh, I know that Tom’s announcer voice is always going on about “the most talked about cast” or “the tightest competition” or the “most mind-blowing thing on earth” (okay, maybe not that one, but he might as well), but they say that every single season. This season really is tight, and it’s getting tighter.

Before we jump into the elimination show, and all the extraneous things it entails, we take an hour for an extraneous freestyle special. It was just what i...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Nine Performances: Who's Good Enough For The Finals?

May 17th, 2011 9:21am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
I would say that it’s time to cue the dramatic music and suspenseful voiceovers because it’s time for the semi-finals... but ‘Dancing With The Stars’ is always dramatic. This week does get more difficult, though, as competitions tend to do. We get three dances, the last of which is a winner takes all Cha-Cha for a bonus 15 points. This bodes well for Kirstie, the Cha-Cha Queen.

Round One:

Ralph Macchio (Actor) and Karina Smirnoff
Dance: Argentine tango
Scores: 8, 9, 8
Len said it lacked some emotion, but he liked the set up and it was full of content. Bruno said Ralph was deta...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Eight Sees Romeo Fall Just Short Of The Semi-Finals

May 11th, 2011 9:37am EDT
CHELSIE HIGHTOWER & ROMEO
Monday night, Ralph took a tumble all the way down to the bottom of the leader board, falling a full six points behind his closest competitor. With the competition as tight as it is, it could have been his demise. The fans sometimes surprise us, though, and they did this week (or at least surprised me) in our last elimination before the semi-finals.

But first, before we got to the results show, we had an hour of a recap show. Because heaven forbid we actually watch something educational. I love this show, but that decision was frustrating. On top of that, this week wasn’t eve...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Eight Races To The Semi-Finals

CHELSEA KANE & MARK BALLAS
This Monday determined which four couples would be moving on to the semi-finals next week, and I almost couldn’t believe that when they said it! The semi-finals? Already?! I haven’t even decided who I want to win yet!

My indecision aside, we got two dances this week. The first was just a straight up dance, no gimmicks, and then the second was the instant dance, brought back from last season. Instant dances almost never go as badly as we might imagine they could, but the anticipation is fun. On top of that, my favorite from last season, and instant dance stand out, Kyle Masse...

An Injured Ralph Macchio Persevered Through 'Dancing'

May 10th, 2011 8:40am EDT
Ralph Macchio
Injured actor Ralph Macchio struggled through a performance on Dancing With The Stars on Monday night, but his painful knee left him slumped at the bottom of the leaders' board.

The Karate Kid star ruptured a cyst during training last week and he subsequently missed much of his rehearsal time with professional dance partner Karina Smirnoff.

Macchio refused to pull out of his planned appearance on the program and took to Twitter.com ahead of the show to warn fans his performance would be less than perfect.

He wrote, "Nothing's gonna ever keep me down... Will be rough around the edges w/...

Dancing With the Stars frontrunner, Hines Ward, was involved in a mix-up that briefly left him handcuffed and held at gunpoint by Los Angeles police. Don't worry, your favorite dancing machine did nothing wrong -- it was a slight case of the oops! Read on to find out why.

Dancing With the Stars contestant, Hines Ward, was briefly detained due to a report that the car he was driving in was stolen. Los Angeles police revealed that Hines Ward was "detained at gunpoint" but released shortly after they discovered it was a mix-up.

Only 6 stars are left from the original 11 that started this season out, and this is the first week that we are throwing more than one dance at them. We get team dances, and individual dances, and we have a guest judge this week, Donnie Burns, a highly-decorated Latin dancer. This is a man who Karina called the “ballroom god” and Maks said was ballroom dancing’s Tiger Woods.

The team dances were the Cha-Cha-Cha, and the teams were chosen by the season’s highest scorers, Chelsea and Hines. Chelsea picked Ralph and Romeo, while Hines picked Kirstie and Kendra. Hine’s team seemed a bit... ...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Six Results: Chris Jerico Is Taken To The Mat

April 27th, 2011 9:22am EDT
DWTS Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke eliminated
Guilty Pleasures Week brought out some of the best performances so far this season, Romeo and Chelsea grabbing the top spots, and deservedly so. It’s still one of the tightest seasons I have seen, though, and I’m never sure who’s leaving each week. This was the first week, however, that if anyone in the judges’ bottom four except Kendra was going home, it was going to sting for me.

Before the results show, we got a “The Road To The Finals” one hour special sort of episode, which was mostly a time filler, but offered some insights to each of the stars still in the competition. S...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Six Performances See Another Tumble And Bring Out The '10' Paddles

April 26th, 2011 9:29am EDT
DWTS Guilty Pleasures Week
On the heels of Classical Week’s success, last week's American Week was a big mess. This Monday I was hoping we’d get a more coherent show with Guilty Pleasures Week, and maybe some good old nostalgia. I was really glad to get a little bit of both.

Right off the bat we got a performance of “MmmBop” from Hanson, our musical guest for the episode. Yes, Hanson. 1997’s Hanson. Yikes. But I say ‘yikes’ in an oddly affectionate way, even if I was well beyond teenybopper age when they hit. Speaking of which, when did those boys grow up?!

Moving on to the dancing...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Five Sends Petra Packing

American Week performances were hit and miss, so I’m glad we’re putting that behind us, and I’m looking forward to next week’s “guilty pleasures” theme. But of course there is the business of who has to go home to deal with before we can move on. Let’s take a look at where Monday’s judges’ scores left us:

1. Hines and Kym - 27
2. Chris and Cheryl - 26
2. Chelsea and Mark - 26
2. Romeo and Chelsie - 26
3. Kirstie and Maks - 23
4. Ralph and Karina - 22
4. Petra and Dmitry - 22

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Five Salutes The Red, White And Blue

April 19th, 2011 10:00am EDT
DWTS American Week
It’s American Week on ‘Dancing With The Stars’, and Monday was a night of odd music choices mixed with dances that didn’t fit them. As a result, there were a lot of awkward performances, and mixed reviews. I think they may have started out with a good idea for a theme, but didn’t carry it out very well. After last week’s classical theme, it was a definite step down. But the show must go on, and ‘Dancing’ has always got to have a gimmick, right?

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Four Elimination Is 'The Heart Of The Show' Sugar Ray

April 13th, 2011 9:28am EDT
SUGAR RAY LEONARD - ANNA TREBUNSKAYA
Classical Week performances are over and done, but ‘Dancing With The Stars’ still had last night’s results show to milk the orchestra. It wasn’t quite as effective with Jennifer Hudson taking Katherine Jenkins’ spot at center stage, but that wasn’t really what mattered. What mattered is who the heck was going to go home. This was one of those weeks that it seemed like it could have been anyone.

In fact, the first couple declared to be in jeopardy was sort of a shock based on judge scores, but even then I still wondered if it really could have been their time. I’m getting ahead of mys...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Four Gives Us Classics & Another Leader Board Shift

DWTS Classical themed week
Tchaikovsky, Rota, Bocelli, Williams... It’s Classical Week on ‘Dancing With The Stars’, and the band has gone and multiplied into a 46 member orchestra. On top of that, we had some amazing guest stars, like violinist David Garrett and singer Katherine Jenkins. I’m not a huge fan of classical music, but I enjoy it enough, and this was one of the best theme nights I can remember in recent seasons.

The stage was really quite amazing to see, and it brought a whole new element to the show. Last season they did Acoustic Week, and that was uneventful in my eyes, but this was a game changer. ...

'Dancing With The Stars' Review: Week Three Elimination... Wendy Williams

April 6th, 2011 9:18am EDT
DANCING WITH THE STARS THE RESULTS SHOW
Monday night we laughed and cried, and oohed and aahed, among other cliche reactions, over the emotional stories our stars told with their dances. We collectively cringed over Kirstie and Maks’ fall, then talked about it all day long. We discussed how the scores have been all over the place this season... and then talked about Kirstie and Maks some more.

Look, you fall down on ‘Dancing’, and you’re going to have to talk about it and hear about it until you have a nervous breakdown. It’s just the way it is.

Here’s a run down of where we stood after Monday’s performances:

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Three Performances Get Emotional

April 5th, 2011 9:20am EDT
CHRIS JERICHO CHERYL BURKE
With Mike and Lacey gone, we now have ten stars standing, some good, some bad, some ridiculous. Some of them are all of those things at the same time, and this week they get to tell us their personal stories. Each star picked a song that they had an emotional connection to, and had to express it in their dance.

It wasn’t as silly as I thought it was going to be.

The outcomes were a little surprising, most especially because they gave us a brand new pecking order at the end of the night. Again. This season is shaping up to be unpredictable. Don’t these people realize that they’re toyi...

'Dancing With The Stars' Review: And The First Elimination Of Season Twelve Is...

Mike Catherwood and Lacey Schwimmer
It's inevitable. One by one, all the contestants on 'Dancing With The Stars' will go home until there is only one left standing. It's no fun for anyone, but for the very first to go, it downright stinks.

Of course, before we kick someone off the dance floor crying (maybe), the first hour of 'Dancing' is the recap hour. I actually really like to rewatch the dances without all the extraneous stuff. And I have to admit that on second watch, yes, I was a little harsh in my criticism of Petra this week. Did I think she had any better a chance going into the elimination show after a rewatch...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Two Performances Review

Romeo and Chelsie Hightower
It's week two of 'Dancing With The Stars', and expectations are high. For some. Ralph Macchio and Kirstie Alley came out on fire last week, and we wanted to see if they can keep up the high standard. Was it luck? A product of the opening night high? I was especially interested in seeing Kirstie, considering I expected utter clumsiness last week. She shocked a lot of people. Can she do it again?

The rest of our stars are... not so heavily anticipated. In fact, Mike Catherwood couldn't get worse. Well, I shouldn't say that. He could fall down this week, or have a nervous bre...

On the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars, we were treated to a handful of surprises. Karate Kid Ralph Macchio started at the top of the competition, and right behind him was... Kirstie Alley!

Meanwhile, fan favorites Kendra Wilkinson and Wendy Williams were on the bottom half - lucky for them, radio personality Mike Catherwood had the worst performance of the night. But let's start at the top:

Ralph Macchio stunned the judges with his foxtrot with partner Karina Smirnoff, set to "Kick in the Head." Judge Len Goodman said the obvious: "You've got great potential... best foxtrot of ...

Cool as Shawntel was, she wasn’t making it out of the subsequent rose ceremony alive.
