Birth Name: Hines Ward

In the spring of 2006, Ward returned to his birthplace of Seoul for the first time since he was an infant. During his stay, he attended several meetings, where he and various community leaders engaged in what he referred to as "hope sharing" discussions. Before leaving the country, he donated $1 million U.S. dollars to create the Hines Ward Helping Hands Foundation, an organization to help mixed-race children who have long suffered from discrimination in South Korean society. That fall, he began hosting the "Hines Ward Show" on a local CBS-owned television station.
