Known as the most successful female ski racer in American history, Lindsey Vonn (born Oct. 18, 1984) is the only U.S. woman to have won two World Cup overall titles. She also earned two downhill titles and a super-G title. Six weeks after she turned 20, she produced her first World Cup victory. She has more World Cup wins (30) and podium finishes (58) than any American woman. Vonn received four World Championship medals, including two golds, in 2009. Vonn was a medal favorite coming into the 2006 Turin Olympic Games, but she had a scary crash during a downhill training run and was airlifted to a hospital.
