LaDainian Tomlinson Biography
American football player LaDainian 'LT' Tomlinson was born on June 23, 1979, in
Rosebud, Texas. LaDainian was a talented athlete in high school. He excelled in
baseball, basketball and football and was named player of the year at the University
High School in Waco, Texas. He was a star running back at Texas Christian University
and helped the Horned Frogs win their first bowl game in 41 years against USC
in the Sun Bowl. In December 2005, LaDainian fulfilled a promise to his mother
by earning his degree in communications from TCU. He was selected in the first
round of the 2001 NFL draft by the San Diego Chargers, where he immediately became
the starting running back, and has started in all but one game. In 2003, he became
the first player in NFL history to rush for 1000 yards and record 100 receptions
in the same season and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
He wears uniform number 21 for the Chargers because it is between the uniform
numbers of his two favorite running backs: Barry
Sanders (20) and Emmitt Smith (22).
