Professional football player Cristiano
Ronaldo was born on Feb. 5, 1985, in Funcahl,
Madeira, Portugal, and is named after former
president Ronald Reagan because he
was his father's favorite actor. As an
amateur, Cristiano was first spotted by
former Liverpool F.C. manger Gerard Houllier
at age 16 and was signed by Manchester
United from Sporting Lisbon in August 2003
for 12,240,000 pounds.



Ronaldo made his Manchester United debut
against the Bolton Wanderers and scored
his first goal against Portsmouth F.C. at Old
Trafford. Cristiano also plays for
the Portuguese National team and made his
international debut in August 2003 against
Kazakhstan, and he scored Portugal's only
goal in their 2-1 loss to Greece. He
has been romantically linked to Spanish
television anchorwoman Merche Romero as
well as models Jordana Jardel, Lauren Frain,
and Christina Carlos, and he drives
a red Ferrari 435 and a silver Porsche.
