Athlete and Celebrity Couples: What Draws Them Together?

September 15th, 2008 10:45am EDT
Jessica Simpson
Peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti and meatballs, Punky Brewster and mismatched Converse. Some things just go together, like the perennial pairing of athletes and starlets. Why do the athletically inclined always seem to end up with Hollywood's prettiest young things? There must be something aside from the obvious draw of bulging biceps, movie premiers, and the thrill of evading the paparazzi.

The athlete/starlet combination is hardly a new one. Perhaps the most well known, and most romanticized, incarnation took place when Joe DiMaggio fell in love with Marilyn Monroe. Even though th...

5 Underrated Guitar Players

John Frusciante
Whenever one creates an "underrated" list, it often sparks an argument. Maybe that's because it's such a hard concept to define. Some might say an individual is far too under appreciated, while another might say, "Nope. He's rated right where he should be."

With music it's all about a person's ear and what he or she digs on. After all, there are no statistics to back a person up (unlike a topic such as sports where one might say that the importance of Dennis Rodman's rebounding was overlooked, and he/she would have the 20 boards a game stat right in front of him/her).

In Hollywood, Quickie Marriages Are Usually Doomed

October 22nd, 2007 1:59pm EDT
Pamela Anderson
The gown was made of denim, the cake was made of Styrofoam, and the bride gushed that romance had blossomed when she paid off a gambling debt to the groom with sexual favors. It's a wedding, Hollywood style, where about the only things Pamela Anderson and Rick Solomon have in common are starring roles in blockbuster sex tapes and two failed marriages behind them - each.

If Anderson and Solomon make it work, they'll not only defy expectations, they'll also escape a place in the celebrity marriage hall of shame. These stars are experts at rushing to divorce court as soon as they've rushe...
