Birth Name: Victor Ortiz
Born: 01/31/1967
Birth Place: Garden City, Kansas, USA

In 2004, Ortiz turned professional and catapulted to an easy 7-0 record before earning his first loss with a disqualification for an illegal uppercut that knocked his opponent down. But he quickly built an impressive record of 22-1-1 when he earned the WBO NABO Light Welterweight title after beating Argentina's Roberto Arrieta with a TKO in round five. After successfully defending his title against Jeffrey Resto and Mike Arnaoutis, Ortiz lost his belt to Marcos Maidana after the referee stopped the fight before the sixth round because of a serious cut that was opened above the fighter's eye. Ortiz had knocked Maidana down twice in the fight, but was also knocked down once himself before the stoppage. Looking for a comeback, Ortiz fired Garcia and won fights over Antonio Diaz and Nate Campbell, before moving up in weight class to win the WBC Welterweight title over Andre Berto with a unanimous decision in April 2011. Just five months later, however, he lost the title after being knocked out in the fourth round by Floyd Mayweather, Jr., a controversial fight where Ortiz lunged at Mayweather with his head toward the end of the round, and was knocked out soon after. Following another loss to Josesito Lopez in 2012, Ortiz entered the reality TV ring in early 2013 when he became a contestant on the 16th season of "Dancing with the Stars" (ABC, 2005- ).
