Allen Iverson Biography
Professional basketball player Allen "The Answer" Iverson was born on
June 7, 1975, in Hampton, VA. He attended Bethel High School, where Allen was
a star in football and basketball, and led both the football and basketball teams
to state championships. While he was in prison for his involvement in a brawl,
his mother contacted Georgetown's basketball coach John Thompson to help her son.
The legendary coach offered him a scholarship, and he became the Rookie of The
Year as well as the 'Hoyas' all-time leading scorer.
Allen left Georgetown after two years and he was the first pick overall in the
1996 draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He spent ten selfish years with the 76ers,
and on December 19, 2006, he was traded to Denver Nuggets for Andre Miller, Joe
Smith and two first-round draft picks. Allen is a friend of NASCAR Craftsman Truck
series driver Brendan Gaughan, and he
has an off-season home in Atlanta. He married his high school sweetheart Tawanna
Turner and they have four children: two daughters Tiaura and Messiah, and two
sons Allen Jr. and Isaiah Rahsaan.
