Born: July 23, 1974

The ne plus ultra of late 20th and early 21st century track-and-field stars, Maurice Greene grew up in Kansas and soared to victory time and again as a high-school athlete, specializing in record-breaking sprints while holding court as a local football star. Greene achieved such tremendous, overwhelming success on the track that he soon parlayed those abilities into a full-time career as a professional racer, abetted by extensive training with heavyweights including Jon Drummond, John Smith, and Ato Boldon. Those efforts soon paid off, for Greene racked up a litany of laurels and titles on the field, including a gold medal in the 100 m dash at the 1997 USA National Championships, the 1999 Jesse Owens Award, gold medals in the 100 m dash and the 4x100 m relay at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, and first place in the 100 m dash at the 2002 Roma Golden Gala in Rome, Italy.

In 2008, Greene signed on with ABC to participate in season seven of its competition-based reality series Dancing with the Stars. Producers paired him up with professional dancer Cheryl_Burke. Nathan Southern, Rovi
