The pair met on the set of "Pushing Tin," and he broke off his engagement to actress Laura Dern to be with Jolie. The couple made headlines for their bizarre behavior, including wearing vials of each other...

Spotlight: Celebrities On Home Shopping Network

August 26th, 2009 9:56am EDT
Suzanne Somers
Launched in 1982 in Florida by Lowell 'Bud' Paxson and Roy Speer, the Home Shopping Network (HSN) pioneered the concept of people being able to shop in their skivvies from the comfort of their couches. This shop-at-home brain child first came to Paxson in 1977 while he was managing a radio station and a liquidity problem arose with one of his advertisers, which resulted in the company being paid in electric can openers.

Since the kitchen appliance bartering system isn't always the most gainful way to run a business, the radio station was left with a significant amount of fund-raising to...

This Week's Movie Buzz: See It, Rent It, Or Skip It?

July 6th, 2009 9:36am EDT
Bruno
Last week, I chose to see "Public Enemies," which is a decision I definitely do not regret. Johnny Depp is electric as John Dillinger, oozing the charm and finesse of the real life American bank robber and folk hero. Christian Bale also does a solid job as the FBI agent Melvin Purvis, a man singularly obsessed with catching Dillinger.

My main complaints are that the movie does not develop the roles of the other gangsters very well, and at points that the cinematography leaves something to be desired. There are some really shaky handheld shots, which are nauseating. Other than that, ...

Summer TV Preview: Forget the Beach, Cable Is The Place To Be

May 30th, 2008 8:30am EDT
Law and Order CI
While the cable networks still lag far behind the broadcast networks in the ratings department (well, four of them anyway), they have made great strides in terms of matching, and often times exceeding, the big dogs when it comes to quality original programming.

At no time of the year is this trend more evident than in the summer. While the broadcast networks are unsurprisingly going with a bevy of unscripted fare (including entirely too many reality competition shows), the cable networks are once again proving to be the place to turn for quality, original, SCRIPTED programming.
