Broadway To Dim Its Lights For Newman

Paul Newman will be honored by Broadway's theater bosses on Friday, when the lights of New York's famous district are dimmed for one minute. At 8pm Eastern Time, marquees outside theaters across the city will lower their lights in recognition of Newman's contribution to the New York stage.

Although known more as a film star, Newman graced the stage in five Broadway productions, starting in 1953 with William Inge's Picnic, where he met his future wife Joanne Woodward.

'Empire Falls,' 'Boston Legal' & 'Grey's Anatomy' Lead SAG Nominations

Nominations for the 12th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding performances in 2005 in five film and eight primetime television categories were just announced. In the television categories, the HBO miniseries Empire Falls garnered four nominations, including one for Paul Newman and one for Ed Harris.
