'Grey's Anatomy' Star Chandra Wilson Revisits 'Frankie And Alice
Chandra Wilson is best known to audiences as Dr. Miranda Bailey on ABC's long-running medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Yet there's a lot more to the Texas-born actress than just Bailey. Case in point, her role in the feature film Frankie and Alice, the moving true story of a woman (played by Extant star Halle Berry) with Disassociative Identity Disorder. After its initial 2010 release, the film is finally coming to DVD today. Chandra sat down with us on Friday to discuss its lasting appeal and stepping out from under Bailey's lab coat.

"We've had a couple of resurgences over the years!" she s...

Fall TV Progress Report: Grading 10 New And Returning Shows

October 14th, 2011 1:00pm EDT
dennings, behrs
Fall is one of my favorite times of year, and it’s not because of everything from, lattes to cakes, is pumpkin-flavored and stores are stuffed with caramel apples. It’s because there is a fresh, shiny crop of new and returning shows to devour. Most shows are at least three episodes in, so it’s time to grade 10 new and returning shows to gauge their progress in this burgeoning season.

NEW SHOWS

“2 Broke Girls” CBS Mondays 8:30 P.M. EST

“2 Broke Girls” is a snappy, odd couple sitcom about Max (“Thor’s” Kat Dennings), an uber-sarcastic and cynical waitress who takes in Caroline (Bet...

Happy Black History Month, everyone! Every since I graduated high school, Black History Month (and President’s Day) has had a tendency to slip past my notice. This month, however, I wanted to draw your attention to two of my favorite things: influential people, and television. And since it’s February, I wanted to give it an African-American history spin. Here is my list of five influential African-American television characters.

1. Clair Huxtable - The Cosby Show (played by Phylicia Rashād)

'Grey's Anatomy' Season 7 Ep. 12 Recap: 'I'm Pregnant'

February 4th, 2011 9:25am EST
Callie and Arizona during happier times.
Episode 12 of “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 7 is one episode that has all the fans talking. The themes of baby-making and inappropriate relationships continued, but with a twist—and a life changing declaration of “I’m pregnant” coming from a somewhat unexpected surgeon at Seattle Grace.

“Grey’s Anatomy” episode 12 started with Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) seated together in the bedroom looking at a pregnancy test. It read “not pregnant,” and Derek reassured Meredith that “next time” the results would be different. In typical Meredith fashion, she expressed her doubt that t...

In the last episode, Derek took Cristina on a fishing trip—much to the disapproval of Meredith and Cristina’s new husband, Owen (Kevin McKidd). Meredith was grilling Derek ...

“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 7 continues to chronicle the return to “normal” for the surgeons at Seattle Grace, none with more difficult than Cristina (Sandra Oh). With her departure from the program, and after a disastrous evening of bartending at Joe’s, Cristina continues to be adrift. Meredith and Derek share a private moment.
This week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy focused on the interpersonal relationships among the staff of Seattle Grace and the biology which fuels every human and their relationships. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek’s (Patrick Dempsey) visit to the OBYGN took top billing, with the doctor telling Meredith that she had a “hostile” womb. They’re talented. They’re loveable. They’re hard-working TV thespians. Yet they don’t always get the credit they deserve. Here are 10 (seven, with three Honorable Mentions) out of the many TV stars that are often underappreciated.

With Oscar nominations for The Big Chill, The Natural and Fatal Attraction, Close shines just as bright on the small screen. She currently stars as the lead character Patty Hewes, the ruthless litigator on the FX drama...

Emmy Nomination Surprises, Snubs And Shouldn't Be Nominated

To paraphrase Ned Flanders, apparently an Emmy nomination is easier to get than an acceptance letter from Arizona State.

Who Will & Who Should Win An Emmy

September 18th, 2008 9:22am EDT

Ah, the Emmys, the most entertaining awards show and often the most frustrating. Why is it so frustrating? Because the voters get it wrong. They get the winners wrong more often than casual sports bettors. In fact, they get it so wrong that predicting the winners is often a fool's errand since it's impossible to determine what will strike the Academy's fancy as the reasons for their choices are as mystifying as the results.

Luckily, Starpulse.com has one such fool. So it's time for a round of everybody's favorite game: Who Will Win and Who Should Win?

The Emmy blue ribbon panel received a group of lists from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences last week. These were top ten lists from which they were to select the five nominees for the big Emmy show. They will view select episodes from each nominee and base their decision on what they see.

It's nigh on impossible to glean an accurate impression from a small sample, especially when it comes to acting. Many characters are given complex arcs from which the...

You've got to have faith. If that little gem wasn't pounded into us enough during this latest episode of Grey's Anatomy then just sit through the commercials and see George Michael singing it to the guy from Hackers.

What I Enjoyed:

-Just give Chandra Wilson an Emmy now. Bailey's voice over in the beginning was a light hearted contrast to the blows the doctor was dealt this entire episode, from her son's injury (possibly caused by her negligence) to her crumbling marriage.
