'Lie To Me' 3.13 'Killer App' Review

February 1st, 2011 1:44am EST
Lie To Me
Man, Ashton Holmes must be really bitter about being killed off Nikita, because now he's turned the tables and knocking people off himself on the third-season (series?) finale of Lie To Me. Okay, I'm kidding about that first part, but he certainly plays bad so very well. In fact, he's made Gillian cry. You do not make Gillian Foster cry.

Two days earlier, Cal is busy annoying the daylights out of Zach Morstein (Holmes), who's one of the young wunderkinds behind a social networking program called SeekOut. He's there to tell Zach that he knows all about his evil plan, thanks to Zach's f...

'Lie To Me' 3.12 'Gone' Review

January 25th, 2011 1:01am EST
Lie To Me
If anything, tonight's Lie To Me proves that some people just shouldn't have kids.

The episode centers around a child abduction, and while the mother Collette (Episodes star Kathleen Rose Perkins) blames unknown assailants, her husband Lane (Doug Hutchison, who strangely also just appeared in the episode "Funhouse" two weeks ago as the victim there, at least if you believe FOX's official press releases) would rather hold her responsible for losing their daughter. The situation blatantly exposes how dysfunctional their marriage is, namely because of how emotionally abusive he is. To find...

'Lie to Me' Recap - 'Double Blind'

It's getting a little old now to have the "Lightman falls for bad girl but is really playing her or is he being played" storyline. Especially since last week that exact storyline happened with the dirty cop. We get it. Lightman can be an idiot about women, and he has a fatal attraction to bad types. From now on we can assume that any woman he is attracted to will turn out to be evil in some way. It didn't exactly surprise the audience that Tricia Helfer was a con artist, since the previews for the episode indicated that as did the episode summary. So why spend half an episode trying to pret...

'Lie to Me' Recap - 'Dirty Royal'

It's the third season of Lie to Me, and there's a lot of warning flags going up even this early into the season that Lightman's getting too big for his britches. Yes, his arrogance is one of the things the audience loves him for, but there is such a thing as too far and he's slowly heading in that direction. It has more to do with the lack of connection he's had with the team so far. They were like an odd little family unit before, and now they seem very spread out. He's fighting with Foster constantly, Torres is usually just around to look confused and wide eyed, and Loker is trying to get...

'Lie To Me' Recap - 'In The Red'

October 6th, 2010 1:54pm EDT
Lie To me - FOX
It's a little jarring that Lie to Me ended its second season only a month ago, but circumstances picked up the new season early. You see, Lone Star was cancelled very, very quickly, and so FOX pushed up the premiere date. It wasn't supposed to be back until mid-November, but here it is, back to the slot right after House. In the finale of last season, the show was a bit shaken up by the brutal shooting of FBI Agent Ben Reynolds, and Torres and Loker hooked up but then split apart due to his promotion. Neither of those things are discussed in the premiere, which is annoying, and for some rea...

'Lie To Me' Season 1 Comes To DVD August 25

Lie To Me Season One DVD Release
The average person tells three lies in ten minutes of conversation. From writer Samuel Baum ("The Evidence") and the executive producers of "24" and "Arrested Development" comes "Lie to Me," a compelling drama series inspired by the scientific discoveries of Dr. Paul Ekman, a real-life specialist who can read clues embedded in the human face, body and voice to expose both truth and lies in criminal investigations. The first season debuts on DVD on August 25 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

"Easily one of the season's best new shows" (Washington Post), "Lie To Me" stars Osca...

A Conversation with 'Lie To Me' Star Monica Raymund

February 4th, 2009 10:49am EST
Monica Raymund
(TJAGS is a weekly column) Every year I try to pick a new drama to watch and make it my "new show" that I follow for the season. This does not always work out (see: Love Monkey and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip). I had decided that Lie to Me was going to be this year's show, based mainly on my appreciation for Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction). Due to circumstances, I was out of town and I never got a chance to watch the two episodes I had recorded on DVR when, coincidentally, I was contacted and asked if I wanted to speak to one of the stars, Monica Raymund. I agreed, of course, and ...
