Mia Wasikowska has played Alice, Jane Eyre, the daughter of two lesbians and the wife of a crossdresser. Talk about a diverse resume!

George Clooney, Brad Pitt, And Gary Oldman Dress Up As Infamous Villains For Photo Shoot
George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Gary Oldman and Rooney Mara have shed their clean-cut images to channel creepy and villainous characters from Hollywood history for a magazine photoshoot.
The Up in the Air star has taken on the unpleasant role of tyrant Captain Bligh from Mutiny on the Bounty, while Pitt has opted to do his best impression of horror film actor Peter Lorre and portray Eraserhead's Henry Spencer for this week's issue of The New York Times Magazine.
Clooney says, "I picked Captain Bligh because I liked his hat. Bad guys don't think they're bad guys. In film, the best evil perfor...

Interview/Review: Director Gus Van Sant on 'Restless', 'Paranoid Park' And The Van Sant Staple
Director Gus Van Sant is a lot like his new film "Restless" – smart, guarded and to the point. Being a longtime fan of his unusually off beat and quirky work, it was more than a thrill meeting the man notorious for such flicks as "Drugstore Cowboy," "My Own Private Idaho," "Milk" and "To Die For." And an eccentric Van Sant you might expect as the helmer of such atypical fare is exactly the person whom I met face-to-face recently one fateful afternoon. A sort of indie hipster with a palpably thick layer of caution (his disbelief when I stated that his underrated 2007 masterwork "Paranoid ...

Faithful readers, I apologize that we didn’t have a Trailer Talk column last week. I just moved into a wonderful new apartment and got pretty wrapped up in the packing/unpacking process. Now that I’m settled though, we’re back to business as usual.
I watched Steven Soderbergh’s “Contagion” last week, which I really enjoyed. It’s an infectious whodunit with fantastic casting, eerie electronic music that effectively builds tension, and solid character development. My Grade: A

Wasikowska And Fassbender Give Nuanced Performances In 'Jane Eyre'
If you go to IMDB and search “Jane Eyre” you will find upwards of 20 results to your query. The Charlotte Brontë romance novel has been adapted a staggering number of times on both the big screen and the small screen. Though what’s even more astounding, is that Cary Fukunaga, the director of 2011’s “Jane Eyre,” thinks we’ll see yet another version in a couple of years.
Why would the entertainment industry continue to redo this story? To rationalize it, Fukunaga compares “Jane Eyre” to Shakespeare, “It’s the same question of why we do anything again with movies and plays. Shakespeare i...

Fukunaga’s latest project “Jane Eyre,” is yet another adaptation of the classic Charlotte Bronte novel by the same name, about a shy governess (Mia Wasikowska) who falls in love with her employer, a charming man (Michael Fassbender) with secrets. W...

The new role is remarkably different from the actor's most recent performance in The King's Speech, in which he played stuttering royal King George VI.
Screenwriter Wentworth Miller reveals the title of the movie is a nod to Bram Stoker's film Dracula.
He says, "It's got a lot of element...

Q&A With 'Alice In Wonderland's' Tim Burton
No one is more “curioser and curioser” than goth cinematic artist Tim Burton. The 51-year director resembles many of his strangely wonderful, yet tragic characters. Born in sunny Burbank, California, Burton, who idolized monsters and grim poet Edgar Allan Poe, often hides behind a camera or oversized indigo-hued glasses. Whether surrounded by hungry paparrazzi in Los Angeles or strolling with his wife Helena Bonham Carter near their home in the UK, he’s often hunched over with wide eyes staring back. Burton, always decked in coal black garments with a crow’s nest resting on his head...

Anne Hathaway Turned Down 'Alice In Wonderland' Lead
Anne Hathaway turned down the title role in Tim Burton's new Alice In Wonderland movie - because she was fed up with playing a "pretty girl in a fairy dress." The actress was asked to star as Alice in the upcoming fantasy film but opted instead to play the White Queen - because she had previously played a pretty protagonist in The Princess Diaries movies which launched her career. The role of Alice eventually went to Australian newcomer Mia Wasikowska, but Hathaway has no regrets about her decision.
