‘Archer’ Cast Interviews From New York Comic Con 2013

October 30th, 2013 3:30pm EDT
Archer
The season five premiere of Archer is still about two and a half to three months away, which meant the cast of the animated spy series wasn’t willing to share too much scoop at New York Comic Con earlier this month.

The question most asked – and dismissed quickly with no answer for fear of spoilers – was the identity of Lana’s baby daddy.

What scoop we were able to learn can be found below in some quick video interviews with the cast. (Why no interview with H. Jon Benjamin? He was running a bit late that day unfortunately.)

'Arrested Development' Stars Unite For Premiere, John Krasinski Confirmed As Guest Star

April 30th, 2013 3:07pm EDT
Arrested Development
Arrested Development's all-star cast was back together on the red carpet for the premiere of their Netflix series - and news was released that its guest star list is still growing.

Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Portia de Rossi, Michael Cera, Will Arnett, Alia Shawkat, David Cross, and Jessica Walter were back together after seven years of cancellation to meet the press and celebrate the unlikely return of the cult hit TV show.

According to USA Today, de Rossi called it "such a relief. It's so exciting. I've been waiting for a long, long time."

"It was divine to put that hook back on," ...

'Arrested Development' Cast Talks New Netflix Episodes At TCA

January 10th, 2013 1:00pm EST
Will Arnett, Portia De Rossi, Jason Bateman and Tony Hale
The Television Critics Association waited all week for the Arrested Development panel held by Netflix. In fact, they’ve been waiting six years since the Fox series was cancelled. The major rumor was the cast would reunite for a movie, but Netflix is putting on a 14 episode season of episodes. The difference is each episode will focus on one member of the Bluth family. That was the only way they could get the entire cast back.

“They have other commitments, they’re on other shows, they have other contractual obligations,” series creator Mitch Hurwitz explained. “Their lives have gone on so i...

'Archer' Recap: 'Bloody Ferlin' (3.09)

February 24th, 2012 1:39am EST
Archer
If I could have a crush on an animated gay man, it would be Ray Gillette. He's funny and generally saner than everyone else at ISIS, and completely deserving of his own Archer episode.

The saga begins when Lana and Archer find Ray (who is not actually paralyzed; he was just rolling with everyone else's assumption for the past six months) stocking up in the ISIS armory. "I kind of have some family problems," he tells them. His brother Randy is a "drug farmer" who's being targeted by the local sheriff, and he's intent on mounting a rescue mission. What interests Archer about this is tha...

'Archer' Recap: 'Lo Scandalo' (3.08)

February 17th, 2012 1:38am EST
Archer
Of all the things on Archer that can make me cringe (and there are many of them), the topic that always gets to me is any mention of Malory Archer's sex life. So here's an entire episode about that!

Archer and Lana are called over by his mother on a rainy Friday night because there's "a guy in a full-body latex cat suit" who's been shot to death in her apartment - and that guy happens to be the Prime Minister of Italy. It looks like the fatal end to an incredibly kinky sex game, and it kind of is. This is Archer. No one ever really dies normally, or with much dignity.

We find ou...

'Archer' Recap: 'The Limited' (1.06)

February 3rd, 2012 2:41am EST
Archer
Sterling Archer has always wanted to fight on top of a train. In this week's Archer, he finally gets his wish, with hilarious results.

The agents of ISIS are helping to transport a Canadian prisoner back to Canada...as well as Malory and her dozen-plus suitcases. Archer shows up wasted, having gotten the departure time wrong. The voice of reason is a black porter whose name actually is George. Yep, "The Limited" is a typical episode of Archer.

The transport is taking place via train, which means Archer can continue to get even more drunk in the dining car ("Do you even still get ...

'Archer' Recap: 'The Man From Jupiter' (3.04)

January 20th, 2012 1:36am EST
Archer
Archer officially starts its third season with a great get: Burt Reynolds. Having Archer's hero in the house makes for a fantastic opening episode.

He comes into the picture when he and Archer are at the same bar; after trying and failing to pick up another random woman, Archer gets his face introduced to the bar by none other than his favorite actor. Unfortunately for Sterling, Burt Reynolds is there because he's meeting Malory for a date. Rather than throw up, as he would usually do, Archer decides to faint instead. "It was an involuntary reaction," he declares the next day, sp...

The 11 Best From 2011

December 31st, 2011 11:00am EST
Southland
2011 was a fantastic year for entertainment. Here are my eleven favorite things from the year that's about to wrap, in chronological order...

1. Southland, TNT

(Season 3 began January 4)

I have to admit that I didn't keep up with TNT's gritty Los Angeles cop drama as much as I would have liked; it fell victim to sharing Tuesday nights with three other shows on my watch list. Yet when I did find time to catch it, I was no less than impressed every time.

There's been talk about the show's TV-MA content (allegedly the reason that NBC axed it), but the real talking point should be the st...

'Archer' 3.03 'Heart of Archness, Part 3' Review

September 30th, 2011 2:14am EDT
Archer
Sterling Archer's pirate saga concludes tonight, and that also means the end of our Archer fix until 2012. At least we have a great conclusion to hold us over.

Malory has realized that half the ISIS team has gone missing at the same time that Cyril discovers he must have drained the agency's accounts in his drunken rage. It's the makings of a very bad day - so unsurprisingly, it's the time when Archer has become a comedian, and not a very good one. He's still in the pirate dungeon, making jokes about (wait for it...) Dungeness crabs. He is useless to everyone trapped with him, but ...

'Archer' 3.02 'Heart of Archness, Part 2' Review

September 23rd, 2011 2:10am EDT
Archer
In case you missed it: Sterling Archer is the Pirate King. He's just not a very good one.

He's too busy being sloshed in bed with two women and, to use his own words, "covered in every bodily fluid there is." He hasn't read the orientation materials - in fact, he lit them on fire - and he's left the actual management up to Noah (David Cross), who informs him that karaoke night and intramural lacrosse don't keep unpaid pirates happy, and that he sucks at actual piracy.

Archer's total leadership fail causes the pirates to suggest a democratic election, challenge him to a fight, and fi...

'Archer' 3.01 'Heart of Archness, Part 1' Review

September 16th, 2011 12:15am EDT
Archer
Sterling Archer is back. Sort of. He's back on our TV, but he's gone into hiding like a sulking fourteen-year-old boy. Not that the title character of FX's Archer was ever known for his maturity.

It's been three months since his fiancee Katya was murdered by his arch-nemesis Barry ("Double Trouble"), and Archer's idea of mourning is to vanish to a tropical island, take up bartending, and bed newlyweds. His mother slash boss, Malory (the always perfect Jessica Walter) is distraught over her son's absence - except for the thirty seconds where she realizes that agent Rip Riley (Rules...

'Archer' 2.13 'Double Trouble' Review

April 22nd, 2011 1:30am EDT
Archer
I'm so sad that the second season of Archer is over now. Where am I supposed to get my fix of complete insanity?!

Seriously, though, this episode ensures that the season goes out a winner. Picking up from the events of last week's "White Nights," "Double Trouble" is packed with hilarity, more shooting, and even a touch of genuine emotional impact. I'm not supposed to be getting choked up watching Archer, dammit!

Our hero has brought his new ex-KGB lady friend Katya back home, where she declares that she wants to become an ...and a newer, better, still ticked off Barry Dylan.

'Archer' 2.09 'Placebo Effect' Review

March 25th, 2011 1:30am EDT
Archer
So, Sterling Archer has cancer. Like everything else, he does not take this well. And as usual, most of the humor in this week's Archer comes from his larger-than-necessary reactions.

Upon discovering that his expensive cancer medications are utterly useless, Archer recruits Lana and sets off on a self-described "rampage" to find out who's behind the deed. Carrying a half-dozen guns, some grenades, and a knife might be overkill for Archer on a normal day. Doing it while hooked up to an IV and smoking a large quantity of medical marijuana pretty much guarantees disaster. "Placebo Effec...

Interview: 'Archer's' Spies Talk Secrets Of Season Two

January 28th, 2011 10:28am EST
Archer FX Animated Series
As FX's inappropriately perfect spy comedy Archer returned for its second season last night at 10 PM, I sat down with creator Adam Reed, as well as series stars Aisha Tyler (who plays Agent Lana Kane) and Jessica Walter (matriarch Malory Archer) to talk about what makes this deliciously warped series tick.

Adam, how did you ever put this show together? It's so hilarious and yet how do you get away with the majority of the things that we see every week?

Adam Reed: I think partially because it’s animated, and people are more forgiving of a cartoon character saying or doing the things...

Burn Notice is over, Nikita's in reruns - where do you get your spy fix? Don't worry, FOX Home Entertainment has you covered. On Tuesday, they released the complete first season of the hilarious FX animated spy series Archer. Jon Benjamin (Family Guy), Aisha Tyler (24), and Jessica Walter (Arrested Development) comes home in a two-disc, ten-episode DVD set.

Aisha Tyler Stars In New FX Animated Series, 'Archer'

January 14th, 2010 8:37am EST
Archer
Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy set at the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS), a spy agency where espionage and global crises are merely opportunities for its highly trained employees to confuse, undermine, betray and royally screw each other.

The series features the voices of H. Jon Benjamin as suave master spy "Sterling Archer," whose less-than-masculine code name is Duchess; Jessica Walter as his domineering mother and boss, Malory Archer; Aisha Tyler as his ex-girlfriend and current co-worker, Agent Lana Kane; George Coe as his aging-but-loyal butler, Woodhouse;...

Best & Worst Stalker Movies

Obsessed
In 'Obsessed', Derek Charles (Idris Elba) sparks a relationship with his smoking hot new co-worker Lisa Sheridan (Ali Larter). One little problem… Derek already put a ring on Sharon Charles (Beyonce). Crazy Lisa doesn't want to hear that though and continues her pursuit anyways. The unrelenting stalker character is a Hollywood staple, so will 'Obsessed' result in some good scares or unintentional laughs? Here's a look back at some of the best and worst stalker movies ever.

'Arrested Development' Cast: Where Are They Now?

Arrested Development
The family that chicken dances together, stays together. With the February 24 announcement that Michael Cera - the lone holdout - had finally signed on for the long-rumored Arrested Development movie, message boards went bonkers for Bluth bananas.

Cera is easily the most successful and visible post-Bluth. With SuperBad, Juno, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Sundance darling Paper Heart, this kid has perfected the tentatively awkward comedic timing that made you root for the love story of George Michael and his cousin Maeby.

Where have the Bluths been since we last laughed a...

'90210' Recap: Does It Live Up To The Original?

September 3rd, 2008 2:03pm EDT
90210
"Beverley Hills, 90210" premiered when I was a junior in high school, which made me the exact age the main group of characters were portraying. Not actual age, mind you. Though Gabrielle Carteris' character, Andrea Zuckerman, was my age, Carteris herself was 13 years older. Regardless, I was infatuated. I, too, had started a new school during my high school years. I felt a connection with the Walsh twins, Brandon and Brenda, as they were uprooted from their Minnesota roots and moved to the comparatively posh lifestyle of West Beverly High School.

Now, 18 years later, we have a new gene...
