More Leslie on TV is exactly what it says, a follow-up to her first album of pop standards -- and she's golden, on George Gershwin's "Fascinating Rhythm" and "Summertime", and Cole Porter's "Begin the Beguine." This time out, the producers restrained the presence of Mitch Miller & the Gang, so Uggams is much more often spotlighted without their prominent contribution, and the result is a better album, whether Uggams is doing the gospel standard "Deep River" or bluesy pop standards like "Anyplace I Hang My Hat Is Home". It's still a somewhat archaic-sounding record, but requires some fewer explanations than its predecessor. Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
