Kirsten Dunst turned down a role in American Beauty because she couldn't bear the thought of kissing Kevin Spacey. The actress was originally tipped to play the teenager lusted after by Spacey, but was so against the idea of sharing a steamy scene with him she passed.

Dunst, 24, told Entertainment Weekly magazine: "I was only 15 then, and I didn't want to kiss Kevin Spacey or be seen lying naked in those rose petals."
