American actress Alia Shawkat was born on April 18, 1989, in Riverside, California, and is the daughter of an Iraqi father and an Irish/Norwegian mother. She started her television career at the age of 11 with the role of Hannah Rayburn on the ABC family series "State of Grace." Alia went on to guest star on the TV shows "JAG," "Without a Trace," "Boomtown" and "Presidio Med." Her film debut came on the movie "Three Kings," but she is most famous for her role of Mae "Maeby" Funke on the Fox comedy series "Arrested Development."
