The first thing to break the tension is a thin beam of light across the center of the screen. It is accompanied by a low, rat-at-tat rhythm that could be rain on a tin roof- if it weren't for the high-pitched shriek in the background.

Princess Diana's impromptu dance with John Travolta at a White House function in 1985 has been voted the "Most Memorable Screen Dance Of All Time."

The Late British royal's twirl with the actor beat off strong competition from the famous lake lift scene in 1987's Dirty Dancing to top the poll by UKTV Gold.

Travolta appeared again in the chart, with Saturday Night Fever taking third place, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in fourth - while Flashdance took fifth position. Travolta's "Greased Lightning" dance came tenth.
