Mexican actress/singer Sara Ramirez was born on August 31, 1976, in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. Sara is a graduate of the Juilliard School of Drama and made her Broadway debut as Wahzinak in Paul Simon's musical "The Capeman." She is most famous for her Tony award-winning role of the Lady in the Lake in Monty Python's "Spamalot." Sara has also had small parts in the films "You've Got Mail" and "Spiderman" and went on to play the part of Dr. Calliope "Callie" Torres on the television hospital drama "Grey's Anatomy."
While she is best known for her role as the independent Dr. Callie Torres on ABC's popular medical drama Grey's Anatomy, actress Sara Ramirez is also a singer and Tony award-winning actress. In 2005, Ramirez took home the coveted award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance in +Monty Python's Spamalot.
