Eric Mabius Talks Grocery Stores, Parker Posey And 'Price Check'
Independent film has always been an oasis to which dedicated film aficionados can escape when they need to have their thirst for mental stimulation quenched after being bombarded by the typical Hollywood fare. No stranger to the indie film scene, Eric Mabius (Ugly Betty) knows the challenges filmmakers face when trying to battle vampires and superheroes for moviegoers’ attention. His latest film, Price Check, has been called the definition of an indie film, having been shot in just 18 days on a budget of less than $1 million.

Parker Posey And Joseph Gordon-Levitt Discuss Independence At Sundance
At this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Joseph Gordon-Levitt held one of his HitRecordJoe shows. As part of his communal art website, Gordon-Levitt hosts interactive shows which he invites the audience to record, and mixes prefilmed shorts with live activities.
At the Sundance show, Gordon-Levitt invited Parker Posey on stage to discuss independence. Posey, whose film Price Check played at the festival, gave her stamp of approval to Gordon-Levitt’s new endeavor. “It’s very independent,” Posey said. “I approve. As indie queen, I approve.”

Fashion No-No: Parker Posey Wears Way Too Much Red To 'W.E.' Screening
We adore Parker Posey, but we don't always like her fashion choices. The actress attended the screening of Madonna's movie "W.E." at the MOMA in New York City on Sunday looking clownish in a very red dress, tights and pumps. She accentuated her look with a gigantic scarf.
The actress, who recently appeared in episodes of "The Big C" and "The Good Wife," stars in several upcoming films, including "Price Check," "And Now A Word From Our Sponsor" and "Highland Park."
What do you think of her look?

Style Watch: Celebrity Helmet Head
According to Urban Dictionary, the phrase "helmet head" has several definitions (some too risque to list here!) We're referring to the hair style that forms a perfect helmet shape around the head.
These stars, including Parker Posey above, are perfect examples of helmet head. Is this the new thing in Hollywood? And if so, what is going on? When was helmet head ever sexy?
Check out Lily Allen at the Brit Awards on Feb. 15. We're not sure what's worse: her unflattering hair or the heavily beaded neckline on her dress. She needs a fashion intervention!

'Valentine's Day' & Other Movies With Star-Studded Casts
Ah, Valentine's Day weekend, the perfect time for Hollywood to embrace the mainstream audience by giving them cheesy and wonderful romantic comedies to prepare for the big day of love. This year the aptly named "Valentine's Day" is perfectly timed to get big notice, but one of the first things that impresses viewers is seeing the celebrity cast involved. It seems like almost every major actor is involved with this project, including Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Alba, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner, Patrick Dempsey, and on and on with at least ten other ...
READ MORETed Danson Is The Best Thing About HBO's Disappointing 'Bored To Death'
HBO's unconventional new comedy Bored to Death, starring Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis, left us feeling a little bored. The show has great potential with a brilliant cast, but it failed to get us hooked. We're not ready to throw away the show all together, however. Here's hoping the remaining episodes will have stronger dialogue and more guts.
The show succeeds in originality with the main character doing freelance detective work, which gives the cast a lot to play with. But it seems to come up empty sometimes. Jason plays Jonathan Ames, a young Brooklyn writer who...

DVD Purgatory: 'Spring Breakdown'
In between box-office heaven and unreleased hell lies DVD Purgatory, where movies with popular actors, big budgets and bigger problems rest in eternal damnation on the shelves of your local Blockbuster. Each month we'll take a look at one of these lost souls and figure out what went wrong. This month's unfortunate victim is "Spring Breakdown".
Female-centric comedies are rarely big winners, but the ones that break through - think "Legally Blonde" or "House Bunny" - usually hit it big due to the dearth of funny films targeted toward women.

Heather Burns Discusses The New HBO Series 'Bored To Death'
Bored to Death is a promising new HBO comedy that stars an excellent cast of comedic players in the form of Jason Schwartzman (The Darjeeling Limited, Rushmore), Ted Danson (Cheers), Zach Galifianakis (Hangover) and Heather Burns (Two Weeks Notice, Miss Congeniality). We recently had the pleasure of talking with the main players, Heather Burns, and here's what she had to say about Bored to Death.

Parker Posey Has Lyme Disease, Pulls Out Of Play
Parker Posey has been diagnosed with Lyme Disease. The 40-year-old star has pulled out of an off-Broadway play, called "This," to focus on battling her tick-borne illness.
Lyme Disease is treatable if diagnosed early, as it has been for Posey. If left untreated, bacteria can lead to severe brain and heart problems.
Producers of "This" plan to go ahead with the play in November, but have yet to name Posey's replacement.

Waiting For Parker Posey
Here's a little secret about entertainment reporting: When you read those little blurbs containing a quick celebrity quote, most likely those were obtained at some sort of premiere or charity function that said celebrity is appearing. Then, some stooge just like me will approach them and attempt to get a good enough quote to be included in the next day's copy. Now, this approach is a 50/50 proposition. Sometimes said celebrity will be gracious -- knowing that you're just trying to do your job -- other times they're, well, annoyed. And really... who can blame them? It probably goes without s...
READ MOREPaul Rudd's Best Work… That You've Never Seen
In the mid-nineties a skinny, nerdy, somewhat sloppy guy burst into the shiny, chic, coiffed world of Clueless' Cher Horowitz and his quick wit and sparkling eyes managed to win her in the end. That guy was Paul Rudd, and he had tween girls all across the country replacing their JTT and Mark-Paul Gosselaar pin-ups with those of someone with a bit more character. Though Rudd has worked steadily ever since his "break-out" role in Clueless, he was often relegated to supporting roles in big projects with even bigger stars (like Romeo & Juliet, Anchorman, or Friends), burying his knack for dry...

I suppose Jezebel James only wanted to stay for a short return. After a mere three episodes, and ratings that made "Arrested Development" look like "American Idol," FOX dropped the ax on what was once its hotly-anticipated sitcom "Jezebel James."
At the network up fronts back in May 2007, "James" was highly lauded and seen by FOX as a potential tent-pole sitcom around which an entire evening of programming could be built. It seemed like a surefire hit when the series received a full 13-episode order right off the bat and was slated to debut in the coveted timeslot following "American ...

All The Elements Are In Place For 'Jezebel James' To Be A Quality Sitcom
"The Return of Jezebel James" debuted this week with a two-part premiere featuring the pilot and the series' second episode. FOX, in their infinite wisdom, chose to bury these first two installments in the abyss of the Friday night timeslot, which is really a shame as the series begins on a very strong note.
"James" is the return to television for Amy Sherman-Palladino. She is best as the auteur behind "Gilmore Girls". Previously she wrote for more conventional sitcoms including "Roseanne" and "Veronica's Closet." Her new show brings many of the elements from "Gilmore Girls" into th...

Parker Posey Slams 'Frat Boy' Movies
Actress Parker Posey has hit out at Hollywood's obsession with male 'frat boy humor", branding it sexist. The star doesn't understand the current popularity of movies like Knocked Up and Superbad.
She says, "There's so much frat boy humor out there now. This whole Judd Apatow craze - I don't like it. It excludes girls, and it doesn't do anything particularly great for our culture. Getting wasted, throwing up, ignoring your girlfriend, who gets that? I consider myself funny, and I don't (get it)."

There May Be Cracks, But The Comedy Glass Ceiling Still Exists For Women
In this town (Los Angeles) and this industry (entertainment), there are a handful of strong, intelligent, funny women who - once they finally broke onto the radar - have worked consistently in equally strong, intelligent, funny roles.
After reading this month's "Who Says Women Aren't Funny" issue of Vanity Fair, it is impossible not to notice just how many beyond the current "it" girls of comedy were left off that list (which included funnygirls such as Tina Fey, Sarah Silverman and Amy Poehler). This is an attempt to rectify that and garner them the recognition they so rightly dese...

'Broken English,' starring Parker Posey, Drea de Matteo, and Gena Rowlands, hits theaters June 22
In a startling mature and nuanced performance, Parker Posey plays Nora Wilder, a thirty-something Manhattanite who is cynical about love and relationships in Broken English, an astute collaboration with first-time writer/director Zoe Cassavetes.
Nora plugs away at her job in a posh downtown hotel and can't help but wonder what it is she has to do to find a relationship as ideal as her friend Audrey's (Drea De Matteo) "perfect marriage." It doesn't help that her overbearing mother (Gena Rowlands) takes every opportunity to remind Nora that she's still unattached.

Parker Posey Accepted 'Superman' Role Without Reading Script
Parker Posey jumped at the chance star in the blockbuster film Superman Returns, but was stunned when producers told her she couldn't see the script. Posey was thrilled to play Kitty Kowalski and branch out into big budget movies because she normally gets offered quirky roles in smaller films.
