Baby Olive Marie Osmond was born in Ogden, UT on Oct. 13, 1959 to traditional Mormon parents George and Olive Osmond. Seven brothers awaited her arrival, four of whom had already started making a name for themselves as singers and paving the way for her own future superstardom. When Marie was only three years old, The Osmonds (Wayne, Alan, Merrill, and Jay) were performing on "The Andy Williams Show" and little Marie was plunked on Andy's lap and jokingly introduced as "the newest Osmond brother," thus making her show business debut. Throughout the '60s, The Osmonds (eventually including youngest brother Donny) had gained steady exposure through TV guest appearances and some European touring...

As I was setting up my dolls this week, I made sure I included these "Ruby Red Slippers" or shoes😂 that my daughter Rachael blinged for me for a new music video that will be coming out soon. They even have the yellow brick road on the bottom arch of them. These shoes are so symbolic for me. You see, I have loved the Wizard of Oz since I was a very young girl.
I was a big fan of Judy Garland. There aren’t a lot of people who I could relate to growing up as a child entertainer, so the first time I looked into Judy’s eyes on screen I just knew she knew how I felt as a young girl. There was a “loneliness” in her eyes, too. I felt it when I was away from home touring on the road.
You know, It doesn’t matter who you are; we all have moments of loneliness where we just want to go back home. Home is that place in your heart where we find peace and contentment, that God center. There is always home with God, and peace with Christ. There's also a yellow brick road that has been placed before us, and that road is simply following God’s commandments. When we take that road one thing is for sure: it will always lead us back home to our Father in Heaven’s presence.
Will we follow the golden path home or will we take shortcuts (the way of the world) and fall asleep in those poppy fields? Yes there will be apples thrown at us, some witches along the way and even some flying monkeys that will try to torment us, but by staying on our yellow brick road we will only be refined by our trials so that we may come off conqueror and return home to our Kansas, with Him!
I wore these shoes in my video because they symbolize that God is my path. Through all my trials His unconditional love has kept me on that road. I know God is with us. He wants us to succeed on that path and even make a few friends along the way to help. This week as I set up some of my dolls for my new home they have reminded me that by choosing to follow the yellow brick road I have felt God’s love banish the loneliness from my heart. I pray this Sunday that we will keep God as the center within us to continually be our companion and our compass that will always help us find our way home!
Happy Sunday! 💋
