American actress Becki Newton was born on July 4, 1978, in New Haven, Connecticut, but she grew-up in Guilford, Ct. Becki started her acting career by doing musicals and plays at local theaters, and she also studied abroad in Europe and South America. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in European history, and she moved to New York where she got some work doing television commercials. While in New York she landed the hosting job for the TBS celebrity interview show "Movie Junky," which led to guest appearances on television shows "Charmed," "Law & Order: SUV," "American Dreams" and "Cold Case." However, Becki is most famous for her role as the evil receptionist Amanda on the dramedy series "Ugly Betty." Becki married Canadian actor Chris Diamantopoulos on May 12, 2005, and they split their time between Los Angeles and New York.

Fresh-faced Becki Newton became interested in acting at a young age, participating in local theater from the time she was a child. After graduating from UPENN and studying abroad, Newton began devoting her career to show business, acting in commercials and appearing on shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Charmed.
