Fashion Fails Of The Week: Taylor Momsen, Shannen Doherty & More

October 29th, 2010 7:00pm EDT
Taylor Momsen
Celebrities didn't disappoint this week with their terrible fashion choices. Just look at "Gossip Girl" actress Taylor Momsen, who has been seeking a lot of attention lately. This week she looked like a goth prostitute.

Other offenders: Julianne Moore's half coat/half dress, dowdy Shannen Doherty, and Rosario Dawson, who looked like she recycled an old bridesmaid's dress.

When will the stars learn to consult Starpulse.com before making a red carpet appearance?

2011 Early Oscar Predictions: And The Oscar May Go To...

October 27th, 2010 12:10pm EDT
Bridges,_Jeff
Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away. And only a few days after that, critics groups will start doling out year-end best-of movie awards. Oscar season is officially underway.

This is the time of the season where anything could happen. But in just five weeks or so, most films’ Oscar prospects will be much, much clearer. Only a few things are virtually certain: ‘The Social Network’ will ride its buzz to a Best Picture nomination, and Jeff Bridges will be in the Best Actor race for the second consecutive year. Oh, and Sandra Bullock will not be so lucky.

Let’s break it down by the majo...

Jessica Simpson launched her jean collection in a not-so-flattering jean dress, while Julianne Moore was just a hot mess. Check out the video below, and tell us what you think!

Risqué Julianne Moore Billboard Banned In Venice

August 30th, 2010 9:01am EDT
Julianne Moore
A billboard featuring Julianne Moore posing naked for a fashion campaign has been banned by officials in Venice, Italy after it was deemed "inappropriate".

The Far From Heaven star stripped off for a recent shoot for Bulgari handbags and plans were in place to erect a promotional poster in the city's famous St Mark's Square.

However, Venice's recently elected mayor, Giorgio Orsoni, deemed the picture - which shows Moore posing with only a handbag protecting her modesty - too risqué.

He says, "An advertisement showing a nude woman on a divan is not appropriate for St Mark's Square."

'The Kids Are All Right' – A Movie to Stand Up To Summer Blockbusters

July 12th, 2010 11:17am EDT
Kids
Fortunately for some (and unfortunately for others) summertime is synonymous with huge blockbusters at the theater. Two hours filled with action, romance and millions of dollars spent in special effects and stunt work certainly make going to the movies a bit harder to pass up.

However, there are other non-blockbuster movies that deserve a little love this summer. One such movie is ‘The Kids Are All Right’ directed by Lisa Cholodenko and starring Annette Bening, Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo. Consider this movie the story of a modern family trying to navigate through the complexities of l...

Julianne Moore Stunned By 'Physical' Lesbian Sex Scenes

July 9th, 2010 8:27am EDT
Julianne Moore
Julianne Moore was shocked by her acting skills when watching her new movie The Kids Are All Right - she can't believe how graphic her lesbian sex scenes turned out.

The actress and Annette Bening play a same-sex couple in the new movie, about a lesbian couple's kids who search to find their sperm donor dad.

And Moore, who has explicit scenes with both Bening and Mark Ruffalo in the movie, was amazed by her realistic performance.

She tells The Daily Beast, "There is stuff I don't actually remember doing. When I saw the movie, I was like, 'Did we do that?' There's a lot of moving aroun...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Despicable Me,' 'Predators,' & More

July 6th, 2010 9:33am EDT
Despicable Me
Last week I was supposed to see “The Last Airbender,” however I was not able to make the screening as I originally planned. I’m starting to think that I was rather fortunate though given all of the negative things that I hear about M. Night Shyamalan’s latest outing. A fellow critic called “The Last Airbender” Shyamalan’s worst film so far.

Coming to theaters this week are the animated film “Despicable Me,” the reboot “Predators,” the dramedy “The Kids Are All Right,” the second movie about Stieg Larsson’s computer hacker Lisbeth “The Girl Who Played With Fire,” the horror charged “...

Mark Ruffalo, who plays a sperm donor in new movie "The Kids Are All Right," contemplated donating sperm when he was a teenager.

He explained, "I would have had a lot more pocket money back then. That would have been a first job I could have excelled at!"

In his new film, the son of a same-sex couple seeks out the sperm donor (Ruffalo) who made his birth possible. The committed parents of two teenage children, Nic (Annette Bening) and Jules (Julianne Moore), are about to send their daughter, Joni (Mia Wasikowska), off to college when her younger brother, Laser (Josh Hutcherson), asks for...

Actress Julianne Moore is calling on U.S. legislators to legalize same sex marriage, insisting people of all sexual orientations should have the same rights.

The Hours star, who plays a lesbian with Annette Bening as her partner in new movie The Kids Are All Right, admits she is dismayed that gay couples have been banned from celebrating their love in a traditional wedding ceremony.

So she has thrown her support behind a campaign to turn it into law, especially in her hometown of New York City. She tells WENN.com, "Absolutely, everyone should have the same rights. It's a right, no one s...

The hot tub machine
On Thursday night I finally went to see “Crazy Heart” since it was still playing at one of my local theaters. While it’s not always the happiest film, it is grounded and real, like you’re actually following the life of a country musician addicted to the rock star lifestyle, despite being past his prime.

Jeff Bridges gives a deep and nuanced performance as the lead character Bad Blake, convincingly portrays a washed up country singer riding on fumes. Blake’s selfish behavior and penchant for the bottle alienate him from other characters in the film, but Bridges’ kind face and sense of hum...

Amanda Seyfried has banned her father from seeing her latest movie because it features intimate scenes with both sexes.

The actress admits she had no problems with her mother seeing the film, "Chloe," at its premiere - but her dad wasn't allowed to be there.

She tells WENN, "My mom can see whatever she pleases, but I actually gave strict rules to my father to not come. He would normally come to my premiere, and I am not comfortable with that. If he ever does see this film, he's gonna have to see it in clips. I just don't want to share it with him for a lot of obvious reasons."

82nd Oscar Nomination Reaction: The Snubs, Surprises & Who Shouldn't Have Been Nominated

82nd Oscar Surprises, Snubs & Who Shouldn
And there were ten.

It seems kind of strange to say that, right? Ten Best Picture nominees? We knew it was coming for nearly a year, but now it's actually there. In Black and white. Ten nominees. Strange.

After seeing the list, it's easy to see that the Academy might be on to something. Sure, it would have gotten the biggest blockbuster of all time with "Avatar" earning a Best Picture nomination if there were only five nominees, but it would have missed out on other massive hits like "The Blind Side", "Up", and "District 9".

Now, the telecast is going to get a lot more casual...

Last Tuesday, I had a chance to see "Where the Wild Things Are." Visually the film is stunning; it integrates handheld camera shots in the appropriate moments to take viewers into the action. Jim Henson's Creature Shop makes the monsters of the movie look incredibly convincing, and the composite animation of their faces matches up well.

Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers do a fantastic job of stretching a 10 page children's book into a movie that doesn't distort the message of the book, but still gives audiences something fresh. One of the most fascinating aspects of the creatures the hero M...

Celebrities Who Get Naked On Screen: A Thin Line Between Classy & Trashy

Hollywood royalty used to use body doubles for filming sex scenes in their films; the thought of them baring it all was almost a joke. But as sex and nudity have taken a more artsy approach on screen, celebrities are jumping at the chance to take their careers to a more risqué level...

Yet, baring it all in films is a very touchy subject with actors. This is a topic young Hollywood and wannabe actors can't seem to grasp. If you are an established actor and nudity is done in good taste, it's viewed by most people as classy. But if you're just starting out, you don't want to be known as ...
