'The Celebrity Apprentice' Teams Are 'Unhappy Campers'
Week Three of The Celebrity Apprentice brings with it the big question that audiences are flooding the Internet to ask: will the Donald continue to encourage and reward the bullies of the teams? Weeks One and Two quite clearly showed that Richard Hatch, Star Jones, and even dowager Dionne Warwick, are using the series to pump up their own sadly deflated careers, instead of putting the charities, for which they are nominally playing, to the forefront.

But this week, Richard, Star and Dionne flew way under the radar. The challenge: create an outdoor camping experience – “Camping in the 21st ...

'Celebrity Apprentice' Recap: The Women's Alliance Falters (Duh)

March 15th, 2011 2:00pm EDT
Celebrity Apprentice
Plato's "Allegory of the Cave" challenges what we define as reality. To a man chained in a dark cave for all of his life, reality is darkness - it is not until he is freed that his perception of reality is changed. Now, imagine that instead of darkness, this prisoner was forced to watch women on reality TV.

Okay, so maybe I'm reaching, but the fact remains that women in reality television are generally presented as backstabbers that cannot get along. These women also jump at the chance to switch over to the men's team, if the opportunity presents itself. "Finally, I don't have to deal with...

'Celebrity Apprentice' Recap: The Pepperoni Profit Preaches

March 7th, 2011 12:00pm EST
Celebrity Apprentice
Alright, time to forget all the "real" people trying to become Donald Trump's next Apprentice - let's get back to the spectacle that is Celebrity Apprentice. Last night we Dionne Warwick struggling with a credit card machine, Gary Busey wandering into traffic dressed like a TV evangelist, and Lisa Rinna was giving the most two-faced performance in Celebrity Apprentice premiere history.

After their dramatic entrances, Donald ups the ante by talking on rooftops and being escorted by The Rockettes. After a few introductions (including Marlee Matlin's interpreter - more on this later) and cele...

Jennifer Beals Wouldn't Do 'Dancing With The Stars' For All The Money In The World

February 18th, 2011 8:53am EST
Jennifer Beals
"Flashdance" star Jennifer Beals was put off making an appearance as a contestant on TV show "Dancing with the Stars" after visiting the studio to cheer on pal Marlee Matlin.

The actress had been considering signing up for the program, but now insists no amount of money would persuade her to put on her dancing shoes.

She tells, "I am not a dancer. They asked me and I said no. You could back up a truck to my door filled with cash and I wouldn't do it."

And it was a fateful visit to the studio to support deaf actress Matlin that made her realize once and for all the show wasn't ...

Donald Trump Rejected Lindsay Lohan As 'Apprentice' Contestant

January 14th, 2011 2:25pm EST
Donald Trump
Real estate mogul-turned-reality TV star Donald Trump turned down the opportunity to include Lindsay Lohan as a contestant on the new Celebrity Apprentice, because it's "not the right time" for the troubled actress.

Lohan has spent the past year in and out of rehab and recently completed a court-ordered stay at the Betty Ford Clinic in California to battle her addiction issues. The Mean Girls star is eager to get back to work and had been in talks with Trump to rebuild her image and feature as part of the line up for the upcoming season of Celebrity Apprentice, which kicks off in March.

Marlee Matlin Doesn't Mind That 'Family Guy' Mocks Her Deafness

November 14th, 2009 1:31pm EST
Marlee Matlin
Marlee Matlin has given the brains behind irreverent cartoon series Family Guy the OK to make fun of her hearing disability because it's humorous.

The deaf star has been the brunt of cruel gags on the comedy series and now she's come forward insisting she has no problems with writer/creator Seth MacFarlane's politically incorrect barbs - and she urges others to find humour in the jokes.

Matlin even appeared on MacFarlane's recent TV variety show, "Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show," to prove she has no problems with the TV mogul's off-color humor.

She walked onstage during a sk...

In her new book "I'll Scream Later", the deaf Oscar winner details her torrid romance with her Children of a Lesser God co-star - including revelations about the couple's alcohol and drug-fueled fights.

Asked if she was concerned about repercussions from Hurt, she told Access Hollywood, "He knows what happened, I know what happened, we both were there," but added that if the actor walked into a room she was in, she would "ru...

'Dancing With The Stars': Dull Dancing, An Injury & More

April 29th, 2008 10:01am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
Sniff, Marlee is gone. No really I'm ok, I swear. Well, six couples remain on "Dancing With The Stars." Kristy has it in the bag still, but things can change. Last night each couple had two dances that were judged by the terrible trio of judges. Will this week seal the fate of the weaker competitors (I'm looking at you Marissa) or will everything change? Tom and Samantha prepped us, and we're ready to go. Quick note, I'm preserving my sanity by listing both dances together, otherwise this would be a mess to read.

Marissa and Tony

We're reminded that last week Marissa had her best sco...

'Dancing With the Stars': The Final 7

April 22nd, 2008 8:49am EDT
Shannon Elizabeth
This week on "Dancing With The Stars" there is the usual introduction fluff. Each couple has their own dance and some sort of country dance so let's not waste time and jump right in then, shall we? Oh, and Samantha is looking beautiful as usual.

Jason and Edyta- The cha cha

We've got Jason near the top of the dancing heap, and this week Edyta takes Jason to hip-hop school where I wanted to go for summer camp but alas, space camp was where I ended up. Jason is set to show Len he can dance. Starting with a jump off the stairs Jason has embraced his dancing destiny and is keeping up wit...

'Dancing With The Stars': If Anyone Can Beat Kristi, It's Jason

April 15th, 2008 9:25am EDT
Kristi Yamaguchi
Adam Carolla is gone and Julianne is breathing a sigh of relief to finally be done on "Dancing With The Stars." This week we'll be watching the samba and the rumba, with Samantha Harris trying her best to not seem disappointed that her career has taken her here. Hang in there Sam!

Mario and Karina- Samba

Karina seems defeated, and Mario needs an ego boost. They go to meet Stevie Wonder, since his being blind might help Mario do works for Marlee. Will his newfound confidence drive him to the top? Well, so far the promise of this being the sexiest night of dancing has been a ...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week 4: Adam Carolla To Be Sent Packing?

April 8th, 2008 9:27am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
Dancing With The Stars hosts Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris are back to try my patience while nine couples get to dance their way into my heart with the paso doble and the waltz! Shall we begin? Wait. Before we begin, did you know Samantha Harris has a journalism degree from Northwestern where she graduated with honors? So join me in starting a new movement to actually be nice to Samantha. Ok, now we can begin.

Kristi and Mark- Paso doble

Kristi has learned to open up, probably to get three 10s. Will she show passion? They are both incredibly sexy together, so if they can communica...

'Dancing With The Stars': Week 3

April 1st, 2008 11:29am EDT
Marlee Matlin
We're down to the final 10. Buckle up, we've got an hour and a half of this!

Marlee and Fabian - Jive

She has a Hallmark movie on CBS in a few weeks, and I bet she plays a deaf woman. Marlee looks extra hot tonight, though, and the dancing is fantastic. She is in league with Kristy as one of the best dancers on the show. I'm predicting she'll be in the final three. Len says she never ceases to amaze him, Bruno is not as enthusiastic, and Carrie Ann is starting to get nitpicky, telling Marlee to be careful with her hands.

My Score- 8

Carrie Ann- 7

Len- 7

Bruno- 7

The First Two Couples Eliminated From 'Dancing With The Stars'

March 26th, 2008 9:23am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Magician Penn Jillette and tennis champ Monica Seles were the first stars eliminated from the sixth season of ABC's ''Dancing With the Stars.'' Each came into Tuesday's results show in last place.

Jillette, 53, added a dash of magic to his quickstep, but his footwork failed to impress the judges. Despite his dismissal, the magician insisted that he and his professional partner would continue to rehearse daily and planned to perform in the parking lot. ''There's no way my dance career ends now,'' he said.

Before her name was announced, Seles said being the first ...

'Dancing With The Stars': Music Ranges From Annoying To Jam-A-Pen-In-My-Ears Terrible

March 25th, 2008 9:05am EDT
Here we are, week number two of 39. I'm going to be glossing over all the filler because honestly nobody wants to sit through it, so why give them the satisfaction of writing about it? So here is week two, written as I watch it.

Steve Guttenberg and Anna - Mambo

Anna brought her mom to rehearsals, and it was only slightly awkward to learn her mom is as old as Steve. She gave Steve some great advice though about enjoying the dance. Let's see if he can translate that to his dancing. First off, the music they pick for these dances ranges from mildly annoying to jam-a-pen-in-my-ears horr...

'Dancing with the Stars' Premiere Part 2: Ladies Night

March 19th, 2008 9:18am EDT
Dancing With The Stars competitor Shannon Elizabeth
On Tuesday's episode of "Dancing With The Stars" they started out by reintroducing the competitors, for the three of you who didn't watch Monday night. At least we didn't have to sit through another random dancing scene, but I was left wondering what they're going to do to fill time - clips from Monday night, of course.

I noticed Steve Guttenberg got 666, creepy. Since I have the mutant power to remember what happened Monday night I started to zone out a bit. Len was in a good mood the night before, but apparently he was grumpy on Tuesday. Good thing he is professional enough to let u...

Deafness Won't Slow Marlee Matlin Down On The Dance Floor

February 20th, 2008 10:08am EST
Marlee Matlin
Oscar winner Marlee Matlin has urged Dancing With The Stars fans not to pity her as she competes in the sixth season of the hit TV show - her deafness won't handicap her.

The Children Of A Lesser God star insists her hearing problems will leave her able to focus more on her dance steps and her partner on the dance floor.

Matlin, who will join Priscilla Presley and Shannon Elizabeth among other contestants on the upcoming show, tells newspaper USA Today, "Seeing as I haven't let it affect my acting, I don't think I'll have more difficulty than other cast members. You try to imagi...

Team Bruno Is Victorious On 'Dance War' Finale

February 19th, 2008 9:21am EST
Carrie Ann
At one point during the "Dance War" finale, I raised my hands to the heavens and yelled, "Enough!" If I'd known that I'd have to watch 75 minutes of Bruno and Carrie Ann talk about things I'd already seen, I would have just switched over to Tyra Banks's stronghold on MTV and watched another episode of "America's Next Top Model." That was not in the stars, however, and it was two full hours of fluff filler, montages, sub par performances, and Carrie Ann and Bruno overload for this intrepid "Dance War" reviewer.

"Dance War" crowned its winning team, but it wasn't an easy jaunt to the...

January 23rd, 2008 12:30pm EST
Ellen Page
Ruby Dee, Hal Holbrook and Ellen Page will set new age records if they win gold at the Oscars next month. All three have been nominated for best acting and supporting roles.

If Dee or Holbrook, who are both 83, win Best Supporting honors for their roles in American Gangster and Into The Wild respectively they will become the oldest stars to win acting accolades at the Academy Awards.

Juno's Page, who turns 21 on February 21, will be the youngest Best Actress winner if she takes home the statuette on February 24.

That record is currently held by Marlee Matlin, who was 21 year...
