Susan Lucci To Host Crime Show

January 14th, 2012 1:30pm EST
Susan Lucci
"All My Children" star Susan Lucci is returning to TV as the host of a new crime investigation show.

Lucci starred on the long-running soap opera until September, when TV bosses axed the program as part of a cost-cutting initiative.

And now the veteran actress is set for a career revival after signing on to front "Deadly Affairs," a new series which will explore real-life cases of love gone wrong when it premieres on the Investigation Discovery channel this autumn.

Lucci will begin filming in March.

Planned 'All My Children' & 'One Life To Live' Web Series Canceled

November 24th, 2011 8:00am EST
Susan Lucci of All My Children
It's going to be a miserable Thanksgiving holiday for fans of beloved soaps All My Children and One Life To Live - plans to resurrect the long-running TV shows online have been scrapped.

All My Children wrapped up its 41-year run in September and One Life to Live will shut down in January - but fans were hoping both soaps would live on as web series.

However, bosses at Hollywood production company Prospect Park have abandoned plans for an online-only resurrection of the shows, despite signing deals with many leading cast members.

Prospect Park boss Jeff Kwatinetz says, "In the end, the c...

Susan Lucci Not To Blame For 'All My Children' Cancellation

November 17th, 2011 12:51pm EST
Susan Lucci
Susan Lucci has defended herself against allegations she's to blame for the cancellation of long-running soap opera All My Children, calling the rumors "simply untrue".

Bosses at production company Prospect Park announced earlier this year that they would make new episodes of the cancelled daytime series for an online TV network. However, fans were let down when the plans were scrapped, amid rumors Lucci had refused to commit to the project.

Now, Lucci has dismissed the speculation, insisting she was more than willing to revive her role as Erica Kane for the web reboot.

In a post on h...

Susan Lucci Slams ABC Chief Over 'All My Children' Cancellation

September 5th, 2011 10:31am EDT
Susan Lucci
Veteran actress Susan Lucci has taken aim at ABC chief Brian Frons in her new autobiography for axing legendary soap opera All My Children.

TV bosses announced earlier this year that the longrunning beloved show would come to an end later this month as part of a cost-cutting initiative.

And now Lucci, who has played Erica Kane in the series since it launched in 1970, has blasted executives for ruining the program.

In the epilogue to her new tome, "All My Life: A Memoir," the actress slams Frons and his colleagues for moving the show from New York to Los Angeles and replacing writers to p...

Spotlight: Celebrities On Home Shopping Network

August 26th, 2009 9:56am EDT
Suzanne Somers
Launched in 1982 in Florida by Lowell 'Bud' Paxson and Roy Speer, the Home Shopping Network (HSN) pioneered the concept of people being able to shop in their skivvies from the comfort of their couches. This shop-at-home brain child first came to Paxson in 1977 while he was managing a radio station and a liquidity problem arose with one of his advertisers, which resulted in the company being paid in electric can openers.

Since the kitchen appliance bartering system isn't always the most gainful way to run a business, the radio station was left with a significant amount of fund-raising to...

'Dancing With The Stars': New Routines and Team Dancing

November 4th, 2008 10:27am EST
Dancing With The Stars
Dancing With The Stars is always up for trying something new. This week it was "Team Dancing" where half the couples still in the competition were put against the other half to boost their scores. But first, each couple had to perform a dance they had not done previously.

Up first, Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson dancing the foxtrot. Kym took Warren to watch a professional foxtrot class and pick up some tips for the male part. Warren didn't impress the judges, however. He received the lowest ballroom score, prior to the additional points from the team dance. Len Goodman, back from his vaca...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Six

October 28th, 2008 9:57am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
It was a night filled with diversity on Dancing With The Stars. Almost everyone performed a different type of dance, Michael Flatly, the Lord of the Dance, took Len's position for the night as a guest judge, and all the stars joined together to coordinate a hip hop routine.

Maurice Greene and Cheryl Burke were the first to take the floor, performing a Viennese waltz. Maurice was skeptical on dancing a ballroom-esque number because he had not done so since week one of the competition. He claimed his mind was on overload. He didn't get too bad critiques, but he did wind up with t...

'Dancing With The Stars' Adds Four New Dances

October 21st, 2008 10:12am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
Last night four new dances were added to the Dancing With The Stars competition: West Coast Swing, Salsa, Hustle and the Jitterbug. While these dances aren't officially new to the dancing world, some of the professionals had to resort to the internet for their own knowledge to be able to teach their star. A male and female celebrity each took a shot at the new dances back to back for the audience and the judges' comparisons.

The West Coast Swing was performed by Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer along with Toni Braxton and Alec Mazo. Lance was up first, but most of his critiques were not ...

Recap: 'Dancing With The Stars'

October 14th, 2008 10:30am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
After Misty May's painful farewell, no one was eliminated last week on Dancing With The Stars. However, the competition wasn't going to take last week's votes and scores lightly. Everything carried over from last week, making people like Rocco DiSpirito work even harder for a chance to dance another day.

This week the stars were assigned to dance either the tango or the samba and were judged accordingly. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba was cracking down this week claiming that by week four of the competition, people needed to start taking critiques and the dances seriously.

Up first, Maur...

Misty May-Treanor Leaves 'Dancing With The Stars;' Brooke Burke Scores Big

October 7th, 2008 8:29am EDT
Misty May-Treanor
Everyone got misty-eyed for Misty May-Treanor this week on Dancing With The Stars as she unexpectedly ended her run in this season's competition. During rehearsal Friday, Misty and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were practicing their jive when she tore her Achilles tendon in her ankle. She told the audience that she thought she had hit the judges' podium, but in fact it was the sound of her tendon snapping. She was rushed to the hospital, and after thorough evaluation she cannot dance again anytime soon. She was sure to be a top competitor (she was definitely a favorite of mine) and it is a re...

Recap: 'Dancing With The Stars': Season 7 Week 2

September 30th, 2008 9:52am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
After booting funny-men Jeffrey Ross and Ted McGinley from Dancing With The Stars, the remaining eleven stars only had four days to prepare this week's routine. Stars were asked to dance either the Rumba or the Pasodoble, the two most "theatrical" dances in the competition. Guess that's the consequence to suffer when you have a long, drawn-out three-night premiere event.

First up to dance was singer Toni Braxton and partner Alec Mazo. During practice this week, Alec decided to show Toni how dedicated he was to her by singing an awful rendition of her song, "Un-break My Heart." But the ...
