Record companies are always looking for an edge. In the '60s it was television stars. The theory was that since they were already household names, a recording by them would be less of a risk. This was the first of two Ode albums by Peggy Lipton, who played cool Julie Barnes on Mod Squad. The LP picked up some plays, and isn't bad, mainly because of the quality material. Lipton wrote four of the 11 songs: "Let Me Pass," "Memories of a Golden Weekend," "San Francisco Glide," and "Honey Won't Let Me." She has a flower child persona that occasionally branches. Interesting cuts include Laura Nyro's "Stoney End" and Carole King and Gerry Goffin's "Natural Woman" and "It Might as Well Rain." Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
