Making her TV debut as Laura Palmer, the murder victim in the David Lynch-orchestrated hit of 199O-91, "Twin Peaks", Lee became famous for playing dead. She reprised the role of Palmer on the big screen, in the quickly snuffed "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" (1992). She also appeared briefly in "Wild at Heart" (1990), evoking Billie Burke's portrayal of Glinda the Good Witch in "The Wizard of Oz". In the film "Backbeat" (1994), she played Astrid Kircherr, the "heppest" Hamburg girl ever. For the role of Kircherr, who pried the fifth Beatle Stu Sutcliffe away from the group, Lee cut her hair in a cropped mop and affected a German accent.
