Clint Eastwood & 10 Other Actors Over Age 80 Who Keep Working

September 19th, 2012 8:00am EDT
Clint Eastwood trouble with the curve
At 82, Clint Eastwood is still very much involved in the movie making business. This weekend he plays an aging baseball scout in "Trouble With The Curve."

Gus Lobel (Eastwood) is losing his sight and hits the road with his estranged daughter Mickey (Amy Adams) to pursue a promising young ballplayer. On their roadtrip from Georgia to North Carolina, the father and daughter learn just how much they have in common.

Eastwood also keeps his plate full directing. His recent films include "Invictus," "Hereafter," "J. Edgar" and "A Star is Born."

Some stars hit their 70s and quit acting (cough....

'Top Gear' (US) Recap: Building (And Destroying) Limos

March 20th, 2012 10:02pm EDT
Top Gear
This week on History's Top Gear, Adam, Tanner and Rutledge try to go high-class when they build limos for the Emmy Awards, and fail miserably while we laugh at their pain. Yes, it's another week on Top Gear.

Tanner's limo is based on a 1987 Corvette, because he wants his creation to be "all about performance" and "able to do a burnout." Yep, that's Tanner. Unsurprisingly, it's bright red and only slightly less of an eyesore than Jeremy Clarkson's attempt at a limo. Rutledge calls it "a rolling sauna of exhaust fumes."

Rutledge picks a 1981 VW Rabbit pickup, which he calls "one of ...

The Best And Worst Of TV 2010

December 22nd, 2010 12:00pm EST
Modern Family
The TV year was filled with ups and downs. Dramas contributed to what some call another “golden age of television.” Some comedies were excellent, while others were repellent. But there are a few sure things: the sitcom is on the upswing, reality is (probably) on the decline, and Conan O’Brien is really, really rich.

The Top 10, in descending order:

10. ‘Project Runway’ – This season sparked emotional highs thanks to Mondo, whose talent and grace (not to mention his poignant HIV background) propelled the show to new heights. But we were also witness to Gretchen, Poison Ivy and Michael ...

Fall TV Ratings: What's Hot, What's Not

October 8th, 2010 9:30am EDT
Cloris Leachman
We're only two weeks into the fall season, and we have two series cancellations. Let's see if we can keep up this "one canceled show a week" deal. For the record, the goners are FOX's 'Lone Star' and ABC's 'My Generation,' both of which got dismal ratings. Production was also halted on the Jimmy Smits drama 'Outlaw' and it's not looking good for ABC's 'The Whole Truth' either. By next week there will likely be more network victims.

As of this week, no huge new hits have emerged. FOX's 'Raising Hope' is doing fairly well following the hot 'Glee' and was awarded this week with a ...

Cloris Leachman: 'If You Don't Eat Meat, You Don't Smell...I Don't Ever Wear Deodorant'

September 22nd, 2010 8:30am EDT
Cloris Leachman
Veteran actress Cloris Leachman has struggled with her diet for 50 years after becoming a vegetarian at the age of 35.

The star gave up meat in an effort to get healthy after she was struck down with hayfever, arthritis and asthma over the course of a summer.

But the diet change forced Leachman to drastically rethink her eating habits.

She explains, "I had to relearn how to cook about three different times - you're from Iowa, there's all sorts of good stuff and I used to marinate the meat with red wine... then I became vegetarian."

Leachman claims the diet helped give her her trademark ...

Tonight, Fox’s new comedy Raising Hope shows you the latest unconventional family. Now family has come a long way over the years, so nothing should surprise you anymore. Martha Plimpton plays Virginia, whose son Jimmy becomes a single dad to an infant.

I love that about her. I love the way she mispronounces big words. I love how she takes herself ...

Jennifer Grey
Six male and six female celebrities have been chosen for the eleventh season of Dancing with the Stars. Yes, there have already been 10 seasons of DWTS - perhaps it's time to have a tournament of champions?

So, who's going to win this year? Let's break down the chances for each contestant.

Audrina Patridge: Audrina is most likely going to be the star that shows the most skin this season. While it will help her with the male audience, she will need to show she has dancing chops to get in the top 5.

Brandy: Brandy has been out of the public's spotlight for a long time, but don't count her...

'Dancing With The Stars' Host Nixes Betty White

Tom Bergeron nixes Betty White
After a Facebook campaign landed Betty White the job hosting Saturday Night Live, it looks like Dancing with the Stars it touted to be her next conquest. The rumor mill is already buzzing about getting White on the show, but DWTS host Tom Bergeron doesn’t think it’s a good idea.

“I adore Betty White, but I would worry about her too much,” Bergeron said. “She’s almost 89 now. I think there’s a point at which – and the producers will probably wish I hadn’t said this – I would honestly be concerned.”

Come on, Cloris Leachman was a real contender in her ‘80s. This is where Bergeron draws the ...

Oldies But Goodies: Stars Who Haven't Lost Their Touch

Oldies But Goodies Stars Who Havent Lost Their Touch
Betty White kicked ass last weekend on Saturday Night Live showing her fans that she still has it at the rip old age of 88 and a half. Her Mother's Day episode reached its largest TV audience in 18 months and it was no surprise considering she had an entire Facebook fan page devoted to her. After her top viewed Snickers commercail that aired on Superbowl Sunday, fans built a Facebook page to encourage the actress and NBC to host Saturday Night Live- and it worked.

Betty is an Emmy-award winning actress best known for her roles as Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rosew Nylund...

Betty White Turned Down 'Dancing' Offer

March 18th, 2010 2:00pm EDT
Betty White
Veteran actress Betty White turned down the chance to appear on "Dancing With The Stars" over fears she would "embarrass the audience."

The 88 year old admits she has been approached several times by producers of the show, asking her to hit the dance floor.

Nevertheless, White is adamant she won't be donning her dancing shoes any time soon - because 83-year-old actress Cloris Leachman filled the quota for veteran stars when she appeared on the seventh season in 2008.

White tells Larry King, "I have been asked. And I've thanked them very profusely. And I said, no thank you. I think Clo...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies 8/9/09 - 8/15/09

August 10th, 2009 9:57am EDT
District 9
I finally saw the Sam Mendes dramedy "Away We Go" starring Maya Rudolph and John Krasinski. The film is thoroughly enjoyable with its highs and its lows sharing equal poignancy. It is the perfect hybrid of a drama and a comedy.

Music throughout the film is spot on, appropriate in each instance for the emotions the filmmakers are trying to convey. Rudolph and Krasinski have a wonderful chemistry as husband and wife and engage in hilarious interactions with the other couples in the movie. Krasinski plays the role of Burt with a dopey charm that's hard not to love.

Starpulse's Explosive Summer Movie Preview

May 1st, 2009 10:06am EDT
Star Trek
Since the dawn of the American cinematic blockbuster in the late 1970s and early 1980s, moviegoers have eagerly waited for May - the unofficial beginning of summertime. This summer is no different. Films, and most popular media, are social mirrors, and this summer season supports that. The large box office contenders all deal with very similar themes: escapism and the support of the lone, outlaw hero figure (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, Up, Transformers 2, Public Enemies, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, Inglourious Basterds, et...

'Dancing With The Stars' Awards The Season's First Perfect 30

March 31st, 2009 8:47am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
Dancing With The Stars finally broke the point barrier and gave three stars the highly coveted ten. The show not only gave out this season's first perfect thirty, but also introduced the audience to two new dances - The Lindy Hop and the Argentine Tango. The Lindy Hop is similar to the jitterbug in its playfulness with flicks and kicks and lifts. The Argentine Tango is a dance of passion and sensuality. Also, based on Monday's performances, two stars will be going home Tuesday in a double elimination.

David Alan Grier and partner Kym Johnson were up first dancing the Lindy hop. David ...

However, ABC was quick to jump on the reality star bandwagon, bringing in The Girls Next Door's Holly Madison and recent The Bachelor dumpee, Melissa Rycroft to replace them.

Reigning champ Derek Hough took the floor first with partner Lil Kim. They danced the Cha Cha Cha. Kim was excited to be dancing after previously watching the show from prison. She de...

'Dancing With The Stars' Week Six

October 28th, 2008 9:57am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
It was a night filled with diversity on Dancing With The Stars. Almost everyone performed a different type of dance, Michael Flatly, the Lord of the Dance, took Len's position for the night as a guest judge, and all the stars joined together to coordinate a hip hop routine.

Maurice Greene and Cheryl Burke were the first to take the floor, performing a Viennese waltz. Maurice was skeptical on dancing a ballroom-esque number because he had not done so since week one of the competition. He claimed his mind was on overload. He didn't get too bad critiques, but he did wind up with t...

'Dancing With The Stars' Adds Four New Dances

October 21st, 2008 10:12am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
Last night four new dances were added to the Dancing With The Stars competition: West Coast Swing, Salsa, Hustle and the Jitterbug. While these dances aren't officially new to the dancing world, some of the professionals had to resort to the internet for their own knowledge to be able to teach their star. A male and female celebrity each took a shot at the new dances back to back for the audience and the judges' comparisons.

The West Coast Swing was performed by Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer along with Toni Braxton and Alec Mazo. Lance was up first, but most of his critiques were not ...

After Misty May's painful farewell, no one was eliminated last week on Dancing With The Stars. However, the competition wasn't going to take last week's votes and scores lightly. Everything carried over from last week, making people like Rocco DiSpirito work even harder for a chance to dance another day.

This week the stars were assigned to dance either the tango or the samba and were judged accordingly. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba was cracking down this week claiming that by week four of the competition, people needed to start taking critiques and the dances seriously.

Misty May-Treanor Leaves 'Dancing With The Stars;' Brooke Burke Scores Big

Everyone got misty-eyed for Misty May-Treanor this week on Dancing With The Stars as she unexpectedly ended her run in this season's competition. During rehearsal Friday, Misty and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were practicing their jive when she tore her Achilles tendon in her ankle. She told the audience that she thought she had hit the judges' podium, but in fact it was the sound of her tendon snapping. She was rushed to the hospital, and after thorough evaluation she cannot dance again anytime soon. She was sure to be a top competitor (she was definitely a favorite of mine) and it is a re...

Recap: 'Dancing With The Stars': Season 7 Week 2

September 30th, 2008 9:52am EDT
Dancing With The Stars
After booting funny-men Jeffrey Ross and Ted McGinley from Dancing With The Stars, the remaining eleven stars only had four days to prepare this week's routine. Stars were asked to dance either the Rumba or the Pasodoble, the two most "theatrical" dances in the competition. Guess that's the consequence to suffer when you have a long, drawn-out three-night premiere event.

First up to dance was singer Toni Braxton and partner Alec Mazo. During practice this week, Alec decided to show Toni how dedicated he was to her by singing an awful rendition of her song, "Un-break My Heart." But the ...
