Fashion maven Diane Kruger stunned on the turquoise carpet for "The Host" premiere in Hollywood on Tuesday night.

The German actress wore a black dress with sheer side panels that revealed quite a bit of skin. She paired the look with gladiator-like Jimmy Choo shoes.

Kruger recently told Modern Luxury Manhattan magazine that she gave up her dreams of being a ballerina to be a model.  She went to Paris at 15 and three years later was "discovered" by Karl Lagerfield.

"Before then I had never been called pretty," Kruger explained. We're certain she's called "beautiful" now more than ever.

Diane Kruger is swapping films for the small screen after signing on to star in a new TV show.

The Inglourious Basterds star will lead the cast of The Bridge, which is based on the hit Scandinavian series i Bron.

The series will chronicle a Mexican and U.S. cop duo's efforts to track down a serial killer. Kruger will play Texan Police Homicide Detective Sonya North.

It will be the blonde beauty's first regular TV role, although she made a cameo on boyfriend Joshua Jackson's series Fringe in 2010.

Production on the pilot begins this autumn.

One of my friends jokingly remarked that we might be starting a whole genre of films where an angry Liam Neeson gets revenge on and/or beats up people, not unlike the Mel Gibson of such movies like Payback. After seeing Unknown I think he was right - and at least to me, Neeson is a much more interesting actor to watch than Gibson. Having said that, Unknown basically boils down to a basic thriller, if an ambitious one...
