'Castle' Makes Stunning Cast Changes

4/18/2016 3:28pm EDT
'Castle' Drops Stana Katic, Tamala Jones Over Cost Cuts
TV shows make cast changes all the time to save money, but rarely are they as big as this: ABC and its production arm ABC Studios have axed co-lead Stana Katic and fellow series regular Tamala Jones from the long-running procedural Castle in an effort to cut costs for a potential Season 9.

Per a report from Deadline Hollywood, neither Katic nor Jones were offered even the opportunity to re-up their contracts for next season, which still hasn't been confirmed by the network. They were simply told that their characters, Kate Beckett and Lanie Parrish, will not be part of the show anymore sho...

The dreaded mullet dress returns, thanks to Melissa Joan Hart. Even without the awkward cut, it's a bit offseason for a sparkly and floral dress. We're not advocating everyone dress up like it's a ...

The Best & Worst Dressed At The 2014 People's Choice Awards

1/9/2014 8:38am EST
Sandra Bullock
The awards season is kicking into high gear, and several stars stepped out for the 40th Annual People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

Triple winner Sandra Bullock looked sweet in a navy blue, white and green floral dress, but she lacked the "wow" factor on the red carpet.

There were several actresses that stunned, including Jessica Alba, who wore a strapless bandage-type dress with a zipper down the center. Va va voom!

Then there was Malin Akerman, who wore an odd cleavage-baring dress that left us scratching our heads.

Check out the "Best Dressed" stars of the night ...

Stana Katic Rocks A Midriff Baring Ensemble At 'CBGB: The Movie' Premiere

10/9/2013 11:00am EDT
Stana Katic
"Castle" star Stana Katic was on trend at the "CBGB: The Movie" premiere in New York City on Tuesday. She wore a black bustier-like top with a matching high-waisted skirt with sheer paneling.

Many stars have been embracing the midriff baring look these days. On Monday, "Ender's Game" starlet Hailee Steinfeld wore a cute black and white striped two-piece ensemble in London.

The trick to achieving this look is to pair a cropped blouse with a high-waisted skirt or pants that cover the belly button.

"CBGB: The Movie" centers on New York City's infamous nightclub, CBGB, which ultimately becam...

'Castle' Season 6: 5 Spoilers You Need To Know

9/20/2013 1:30pm EDT
Last season of ABC's "Castle" was a cliffhanger worthy of a series about an eccentric crime novelist and the fiercely beautiful detective muse he shadows.  Beckett (Stana Katic) secretly pursued a fancy job in Washington D.C. and an unaware Castle proposed in the closing just before credits rolled.  On Sept. 23, "Castle" will begin its sixth season on ABC at 10pm EST, so here are five spoilers you need to know...

Beckett is moving on up.  All signs are pointing to Beckett accepting the job in our nation's capital.  The evidence: reports that the 12th will get a new ambitious...

Ed Helms has made the post-Steve Carell era of "The Office" surprisingly good. Andy is currently dating Jessica, but everybody is rooting for Andy and Erin (Ellie Kemper) to get together. Check Out 'Castle: The Complete Third Season' On DVD Sept. 20

9/18/2011 7:18am EDT
ABC is releasing the third season of ABC hit series "Castle." The series is all about the will-they--or-won't-they chemistry between the two romantic leads, played by Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic.

In season three, fictional crime novelist Richard Castle confessed his love to his partner, Detective Kate Beckett (Katic) after she was struck by an assassin’s bullet at Captain Roy Mongtomery’s (Ruben Santiago-Hudson) funeral.

Special features of season three include:

- A roundtable featuring Nathan Fillion, New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly and more

-Cast and crew comm...

Wishes Of A Television-aholic: 'Castle'

7/28/2011 7:30pm EDT
Fillion, Katic
This television-aholic loves shows that construct their own unique, heightened reality with eccentric characters and a moving combination of drama and angst and comedy. This is why I have been a fan of ABC’s “Castle,” starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic, since the very beginning. The cases can be hokey, clichéd and easy to solve, but "Castle" is all about the will-they-won’t-they chemistry between the two romantic leads.

Last season, Richard Castle, my favorite fictional crime novelist played to whimsical perfection by Fillion, confessed his love to his partner, Detective Kate Bec...

'Castle' Recap: 3x24 - 'Knockout' Knocks The Wind From Our Lungs, Makes Us Long For Season Four

5/17/2011 8:51pm EDT
Castle doesn’t normally make me cry (it’s a light-hearted “dramady” starring Nathan Fillion, after all!), but last night it did. As always, spoilers abound--bigger and more intense spoilers than ever before.

Remember Hal Lockwood? He was the professional killer that pulled the trigger on Beckett’s mother all those years ago. Beckett put him in jail earlier this season, but Beckett promised Lockwood that she would interview him every week and continue to ask him who hired him to kill her mother. “Knockout” picks up as Beckett makes her weekly journey to the prison to interview Lockwood. Onc...

'Castle' Recap: 3x22 - 'To Love and Die in LA' Takes A Field Trip To Sunny California

5/3/2011 1:55pm EDT
Mike Royce, Beckett’s former mentor returned last night on Castle! For those who had forgotten, in Royce’s last episode, he turned out to be a dirty cop that took bribes and impeded Beckett’s progress on a case. She was also in love with him, so his betrayal was especially harsh. Royce drags himself across pavement while an ominous man stalks him with a gun and a silencer. The man shoots Royce.

Jump ahead to the crime scene: Captain Montgomery looks grim, Castle looks unsure and Beckett just looks sad. No one wants Beckett to see Royce’s body, but she’s made of tougher stuff and she wants ...

'Castle' Recap: 3x21 - 'The Dead Pool' Wades Into The World Of Swimming, Drugs And Murder

4/12/2011 12:54pm EDT
If there’s one thing the Olympics taught us, it’s that the competitive world of swimming is cutthroat, fierce, and populated with attractive men. ‘The Dead Pool’ starts with a young swimmer doing what he does best. Suddenly a dark figure approaches him. Cut to Castle, discussing his young writer friend Alex Conrad who is going to be in town. Castle wants Alex to follow him and Beckett around. Predictably, Beckett is not into this scenario at all. My prediction: Beckett is going to be charmed by Alex. Or Alex is actually the murderer.

Castle and Beckett arrive at the crime scene. The swimme...

'Castle' Recap: 3x19 - Law And Murder Is An Homage To The Original Police Procedural

3/31/2011 10:16am EDT
If last week’s episode was an homage to soap operas, this week was all Law and Order all the time. Joe Mcusic, a jury member, drops dead from cyanide poisoning in the middle of court. The case he was sitting on was the high profile murder of a socialite. While Castle and Beckett untangle the juror murder, Castle has to deal with the ramifications of snooping on Alexis’ phone and her consequential loss of trust.

Beckett and Castle meet the victim’s brother, and we learn more about his background. He was a former juvenile offender who ran a half-way house to help others pick up their lives. ...

'Castle' Recap: 2x18 - 'One Life To Lose' (Lovingly) Mocks Soap Operas

3/23/2011 7:21am EDT
jane seymour
The most exciting part of “One Life to Lose” was that Jane Seymour (or as she was referred to in my house while I was growing up, Dr. Quinn) guest starred. The second most exciting part is the entire episode centered around the gruesome murder of the head writer on “Temptation Lane,” the soapiest soap opera of all time.

The first scene set up the episode to a T: a young, attractive woman is in bed with her older suitor. As they kiss, her (dashing, European) husband comes home. When the young attractive woman opens the closet door to hide her older, distinguished (read: graying) lover, a ...

‘Castle’ Recap: The Doctor’s In The…Casket?

10/19/2010 10:50am EDT
Castle, Beckett Season 3
Last night’s Castle episode “Anatomy of a Murder” had more twists and turns than Chubby Checker driving on a switchback mountain road during an earthquake. Yeah. It was intense, but managed to keep the humor.

The episode started with a scene at a Jewish funeral. When a bevy of pallbearers tried to lift and move the suspiciously heavy casket, it dropped, revealing that it was holding not one, but two dead bodies. Gross.

One of those bodies was that of Dr. Monroe, a female doctor who, as we find out later with the help of Detective Kate Beckett, her team and Castle, was hired by an NYPD det...

'Castle' Recap: Of Psychic Proportions

9/28/2010 11:11am EDT
Castle and Beckett, season 3
In last night's episode, "He's Dead, She's Dead," a famous psychic named Vivienne was a murder victim, found dead, stuffed in her couch by her own daughter. Suffice it to say she probably should have seen this coming (zing!). Oh wait. Did she?

Castle (Nathan Fillion) thought so, as he tested, often annoyingly, Beckett’s (Stana Katic) skepticism about fate, psychics and the paranormal. Of course, Beckett and her team weren’t having that, as they are detectives who live by concrete evidence and logical explanations, and thus are, by default, skeptics.

Turns out that this Vivienne wasn’t as ...

'Castle' Recap: He's Back (Whew!)

9/21/2010 10:07am EDT
Castle Season 1 Image
Occasional Castle viewers know that the ABC show is a crime detective/comedy series with a least one victim, one murderer, and a case to solve. But for us real Castle fans, we know that heart of the show is the comedy and romantic tension between the two main characters, crime novelist Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) and NYPD Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic). And, oh, was the tension ever so thick in last night's season three premiere.

If you forgot, Beckett was kinda sorta dating a robbery detective (Tom Denning) in the last few episodes of last year's wonderful season. Clearly, Castl...

'Castle' Star Stana Katic - Hot Or Not?

8/23/2010 1:56pm EDT
Stana Katic
"Castle" actress Stana Katic was a vision in white at the Creative Arts Emmys in Los Angeles on Saturday. She wore a long flowing white gown embellished with silver sequins. She just jumped up a notch on our radar. What do you think?

Fun facts about Stana:

-She was born in Canada to a Serbian father and Croatian mother, who both emigrated from Yugoslavia.

-She speaks English, Croatian, Bosnian, Serbian, Slovene, French and Italian.

-One of her favorite hobbies is archery.

See more photos of Stana here!

2010 Academy Awards Fashion: Best & Worst

3/8/2010 10:54am EST
Oscars 2010 Fashion
There were some definite hits and misses on the red carpet at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards last night. Zoe Salanda and Charlize Theron both opted for purple - Zoe in a Riccardo Tisci ruffled dress and Charlize Theron in a Dior breast-enhancing gown. Miley Cyrus looked quite grown up in a champagne Jennifer Packham ensemble that featured a corset-like top half.

Jennifer Lopez chose an off-white lopsided Armani Prive gown. Cameron Diaz also wore an Armani Prive, but she harkened back to Hollywood glamour in the gold beaded dress. Also opting for beads was Best Actress winner Sandra Bulloc...

Why You Should Be Watching ABC's 'Castle'

2/21/2010 11:30am EST
Why You Should Be Watching ABC
With NBC having Law & Order, CBS living it up with the CSI franchise (not to mention Criminal Minds and NCIS) and FOX having surprise success with Bones, it's no shock that ABC has decided to give the crime drama genre another go after cancelling NYPD Blue in 2005. But this time, the network has decided to go with funny over gritty.

It may not be as edgy as Blue. But Castle, which debuted in March 2009 as a mid-season replacement, is one TV show that people should watch. Or at least put on their DVR list.

On Castle, Über rich and famous and playboy mystery novelist Richard Castle, pla...

SAG Awards Fashion: Crimson Gowns, Bare Shoulders & More (Photos)

1/25/2010 1:30pm EST
SAG Awards Fashion
One-shouldered dresses and vibrant crimson gowns dominated the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards this weekend. Mariah Carey, "Mad Men" star Christina Hendricks, and other ladies captivated in red, while celebrities like "30 Rock's" Jane Krakowski and French actress Marion Cotillard were one of the many who opted for the single shoulder look.

Sandra Bullock was named Best Actress for her performance in The Blind Side. She won the same award at last week's Golden Globes. Mo'nique took home Best Supporting Actress for Precious, while Tina Fey and Julianna Margulies claimed...

Nathan Fillion Tells It Like It Is In ABC's 'Castle'

3/9/2009 11:05am EDT
Nathan Fillion
The ladies may recognize Nathan Fillion from Desperate Housewives as Dr. Adam Mayfair, husband of Dana Delany's character Katherine, or the lovably adulterous doctor in Waitress. Sci-fi fans of course know him as Captain Mal Reynolds from Firelfy and Serenity. Castle may be the best of both worlds, a hard boiled detective for the guys and a ladies man for the gals.

"A lot of times, actors fall into a trap where they see in a script that a guy is supposed to be really charming and they think sleazy," Fillion said. "That's not what charming is. Charming is, 'I'm interesting and intereste...
