Actress Ashley Jensen is a new mom after welcoming her first child - a baby boy.

The former Ugly Betty star and her actor husband Terence Beesley welcomed son Francis Jonathan Beesley on October 20th, reports People.com.

The couple, who married in 2007, decided to keep the baby's sex a surprise until the delivery.

Jensen explains, "We thought there are so few surprises left in the world. We wanted to be surprised, so we don't have the room painted pink or blue."

Ugly Betty star Ashley Jensen is expecting her first child - just months after her character on the hit show gave birth.

The Scottish actress, who shot to fame in Ricky Gervais' Extras, is due to deliver her first tot with husband Terence Beesley in the autumn.

Jensen, who quit her role as Christina in Ugly Betty earlier this year, is "excited" about the pregnancy, according to People.com.

The star is set to move to another TV show - she has taken a part as Jenna Elfman's best pal in new sitcom Accidentally on Purpose.

Okay, so Betty really is moving back to Queens. Now, you may be asking, "Ummm…Didn't she just move to the city at the beginning of the season?" And you would be absolutely right. I don't get the short-lived story arc either. Maybe it was too hard to keep her family involved in the plot when Betty wasn't living under their roof - or, maybe with the current economic recession, the Ugly Betty writers wanted to toss a bit of reality into the storyline. But I say, "Boooooo." Personally, I liked Betty living in the city. It was a good shake-up from the previous seasons.

When we last saw Betty, her dad had just been taken to the hospital - so it's no surprise that last night's "Ugly Betty" opened on a downer note. Ignacio has just had a quadruple bypass, which means that Hilda, Betty, and Justin are analyzing his every cough.

Betty goes crazy making lists to remind the fam of Ignacio's needs. But after two weeks in Queens, she has to get back to her life in Manhattan. She returns to her apartment where we find that Amanda is genuinely happy to see her roomie again - and a little confused that it was Ignacio, and not Betty, who had the heart attack...

So "Ugly Betty" is back from the holiday hiatus, and last night's ep quickly taught us three things:

1. Yes, Betty's YETI program storyline does have potential. Brilliant move to bring Marc in too - it gives the whole thing continuity.

2. Hilda is still getting random little subplots. This time, she is re-launching her salon as a salon-boutique fusion (aptly named "Hilda's Beautilities").

3. Love triangles (or is it a quadrangle in this case?) are hard to follow. I'm talking to you, Daniel/Molly/Connor/Wilhelmina.

One of the biggest (yet somehow subtle) "Ugly Betty" plot progressions may be taking place. Are Betty and Amanda…friends? Maybe this plot turn is predictable, but I still find it oddly satisfying.

The ep actually begins with Betty and Amanda at odds. Being her moocher-self, Amanda has Betty singlehandedly paying for all of their food, utilities, and rent. Sure, there have been many good individual episodes of "Ugly Betty" this season… But the show's overall plot hasn't moved forward in any substantial way. So what was the best thing about last night's "Ugly Betty" ep? Hands-down, it was: Amanda, Amanda, Amanda. She got the best lines and shifted between catty, shallow, clueless, and then pretty darn sweet.

But anywho, the episode actually begins with a flustered Betty. She's still crushing on her neighbor, Jesse, and she's really cranked up the flirtiness dial. She waits in front of their building to give him an "extra" coffee that morning, and he casually gives her a demo of his band's latest songs. They make small talk and plan to get together at Betty's place later that night. ...

So last night's "Ugly Betty" felt more like "Mean Girls 2" to me -- and not just because "Mean Girls" star Lindsay Lohan was making another guest appearance. Sure, Wilhelmina is almost always mean, but she's driven by career ambitions and power hungriness. Mark and Amanda are mean too, but they're driven by insecurities.
