'Godzilla' Not The Star Of GODZILLA - The Lizard Needs A Better Agent (Video)

'Godzilla' Not The Star Of GODZILLA - The Lizard Needs A Better
By Joan Alperin Schwartz

Might as well get right to it. What bothered me most about 'Godzilla' is that Godzilla is not the star of the film. He's barely a supporting player.

When the name of the film is GODZILLA, you'd expect our favorite, fire-breathing, bad-tempered, over-grown lizard to be the main character. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

Who are the main characters you ask? Star crossed lovers - aka MUTOS (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism) Seriously? That's the name the scientists, way back when, gave to these ancient flying creatures?

Okay, so these two MUTOS ar...

The Best & Worst Dressed At The 86th Annual Academy Awards
Stars packed the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on Sunday night for the 86th Annual Academy Awards. Viewers tuned in to see the winners, but the red carpet fashion is always one of the highlights of the show.

Supporting Actress winner Lupita Nyong'o ("12 Years A Slave") stunned in a sky blue Prada gown, while Best Actress winner Cate Blanchett ("Blue Jasmine") dazzled in Armani Prive.

Although she didn't take home a trophy, Jennifer Lawrence ("American Hustle") was a winner in a crimson strapless Dior dress.

Angelina Jolie disappointed in a sheer, sparkly Elie Saab dress that would have been...

Check Out 'Submarine' On DVD & Blu-ray Oct. 4

October 2nd, 2011 7:00am EDT
Submarine
Writer/director Richard Ayoade adapts author Joe Dunthorne's acerbic coming-of-age novel, "Submarine," to the big screen.

The comedy is centered on the efforts of precocious Welsh 15-year-old Oliver Tate (Craig Roberts) to lose his virginity before his next birthday, and to prevent his mother (Sally Hawkins) from having an affair with a smooth-talking spiritual guru (Paddy Considine) after his morose father (Noah Taylor) loses the will to fight for his marriage.

Ayoade, who plays Moss on the British series “The IT Crowd,” writes and directs this dramedy produced by Ben Stiller.

Review: 'Jane Erye' 'Two Jews On Film' Only One Gets The Romance With This Classic Remake (Video)

March 8th, 2011 1:33pm EST
Jane Eyre
'Jane Eyre' is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga (Sin Nombre) and stars the wonderful Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) and the very sexy Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Bastards)

In case you haven't read Charlotte Bronte's classic novel or seen the 18 other film versions of 'Jane Eyre', this is the story of an orphan girl named Jane Eyre (Ms Wasikowska) who is left in the custody of a very rich and very mean woman, Mrs. Reed (Sally Hawkins) Mrs. Reed sends Jane away to a super horrible boarding school where she is subject to very harsh treatment and extremely meger living conditions. But...

Who The Heck Is... Eddie Marsan?

July 2nd, 2009 11:00am EDT
Eddie Marsan
They don't get top billing. You know the face but can't quite place the name. Though they toil in the shadows of more famous leads, to imply that character actors merely 'support' is to vastly underrate the contributions of many remarkable entertainers: Often, it is the performance of lesser-knowns that leaps from screens large and small into the hearts of an audience, leaving them with both a lasting impression and a question that begs to be answered: 'Who the heck is that?'

As a misunderstood 19th-century rent-collector called Pancks, British actor Eddie Marsan sputters and guffaws his...

Oscar Nomination Reaction: The Snubs, Surprises & Who Shouldn't Have Been Nominated

January 23rd, 2009 9:55am EST
The Dark Knight
There's nothing better than a good surprise on Oscar morning, and this year we had one in almost every category. Before we get to the snubs, the surprises and who shouldn't be nominated, let's take a look at what type of a morning this was:

This was the morning that The Academy once again showed how out-of-touch it is. By not dominating "The Dark Knight", the Oscars continued to show that it doesn't care about nominating movies people actually like. There was absolutely no reason this film shouldn't get nominated: It has a 94% percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it got an A from audi...

Final Oscar Nominee Predictions

January 21st, 2009 10:46am EST
Slumdog Millionaire
The time has come, after several months of campaigning and voting, we're finally set for the big day. No, not the inauguration. Please. We're talking about Oscar morning.

Those fifteen minutes at the crack of dawn where overly-caffeinated celebs awkwardly read the names of the top five in each category. Always gripping. Also, this is prime time for predictions. All the returns are in, the precursor season is over, so there's not excuses left. Without delay, here are my final Oscar Predictions.

Okay, one delay. I should note that I hate being right. I hate getting predictio...

The Dark Knight
The first major precursor award nominations were handed out this morning as the Screen Actors Guild revealed their 15th set of nominations.

This marks the end point of the first phase of the Oscar race as many of the critics awards have been handed out and the more reliable industry awards are starting to trickle in.
